My favorite parts of this video is the instant double cut he made to get to the QB. Also, he stops on a dime, changes direction, and explodes. He plays DE/LB at 230 and he makes all of the skill players look slow.

1/2 way into the video I notice something I really like. He always locks and sets the edge making sure the play isn't coming outside before advancing towards the QB. Cox could've been great if he ever figured that part of his assignment out.

You know I think highly of you. Easily top 3 message board owners within the 772 area code. Having said that, your last point is still wildly outdated. Kids don’t have to stick around like they did in ‘89-‘90, ‘04-‘05, etc., setting up the next guy who comes in. It just doesn’t work like that in the portal era. We have to hope BN makes it, or this roster will be stripped bare and we’ll see all new faces. And as I’ve said elsewhere, I really feel like this is our last hoorah as a program and he simply has to make it.

I agree with this, and I think given the time, he will make it. He's playing the long game. The 25 and 26 seasons look very bright. Fans, donors, and administrators need to be patient, and in the long run, it will pay dividends. He's installing talent and a culture that will be sustainable and won't come crashing down after one or two good years. This 24 class is the most talent-filled, balanced class that we've had since the Meyer era, but without the behind the scenes baggage that lead to Meyer's collapse here.

We all new early on that McElwain and Mullen would fail because of unbalanced classes and other recruiting failures. With Napier, it's been different. He significantly boosted the talent and depth, and it's only getting better each year. I understand the game management criticisms, but those don't concern me as much because those issues can be fixed fairly quickly. Roster mismanagent is a problem that will affect you for years. Sure the transfer portal can bail you out of some mistakes, but those are temporary fixes. Plus, if you're going to constantly mess up on the recruiting trail, then mistakes will happen in the portal too.

It's been a very long time since we've had a coach manage the overall program this well. There's been unforeseen bad luck and obstacles in the way, but the wins and rings will come in time.

Hope we round out with some top Florida talent but whatever gets it done.

On Meyer’s recruiting, no doubt two of his classes were stellar but his final class was dump as many of the highly rated never made it to campus. But he was all but gone that cycle anyway. Still, disintegrated like a Mullenzes class.
True but the top end of that class featured four 5 stars:

Ronald Powell DE - Nat #1, Pos #1
Shariff Floyd DT - Nat #4, Pos #1
Dominic Easley DT - Nat #7, Pos #2
Matt Elam S - Nat #25, Pos #2

That's just ridiculous Video Game numbers.

Coming to this thread to say that the last few days are what we’ve been waiting on for the recruiting. Happy to see it pick up. As always, waiting until signing day to judge, but looks great.

Still have to do something with it (which Muschamp didn’t with a few top 3 classes), but this is definitely looking to achieve step 1, which is getting a top 5 class. Now, it’s achieving on the field and/or making the changes necessary to do so if something isn’t working.

Amaris Williams (6-3 270) looks to be an extremely productive SDE prospect.

Playing at DE his junior year he had:

65 Total Tackles, 44 TFL, and 18 Sacks over 12 total games.

Those are video game numbers.

Also of note is the Gators' recruiting this cycle shifting more national. In the 2023 class, UF signed 14 HS prospects from Florida. In 2024, they currently only have 2 committed.

The 2023 class had an average distance per commit of around 200 miles. In 2024, that distance is now almost 700 miles.

(I wonder if that includes the OL from Germany. That would add 4,800 miles for one guy.)
Not sure that's a good thing. We need to lock down our back yard, IMG in particular. And we need to just stop looking at kids from California completely.

We're still not sure BN can coach but his balance in recruiting shows he's paying attention to the roster management better at this tenure than the last 3 stooges ever did.

On another note, I just watched some of Lagway's film and whiles he's obviously bigger and faster, his style of play, arm motion, release, and zip on the ball reminds me a lot of Will Grier's HS film.

we're not just national this year, we are pulling in guys rated amongst the top ten players in their respective states. NC, TX, MS, VA, MD, LA ......

Impressive. Most impressive. The empire is striking back.

We haven’t yet seen his scheme and game day coaching, nor the culture he’s building, translate into meaningful wins.

Just a few days ago, the same was true in recruiting. That fruit is ripening quickly. I will be very happy to see his system flourish like that across the program. I do believe in the principles he’s articulating and enacting. Just gotta win.

He reminds me in style of Billy D. Process oriented, measured, detailed.

I am terrible at evaluating film but when I watched the vid yesterday that double cut immediately stood out as remarkable.

Just to interject, Misschimp was a stubborn fool that thought he only needed to recruit defense. His hamstringing our offense so his defensive brilliance would shine in close wins was his downfall. We had top 5 classes but all of us knew they were woefully deficient on offense. Glad that mutt left.

There are going to be more ups and downs until ESD. Chances are we'll lose at least one player in a flip. However, I would expect to make that up by flipping someone else to us.
Very excited with all this news. Don’t follow like I use to, portal and ESD just wondering what gives in June? Seems early for recruiting; is there a dead period or is December the goal to hold onto these guys? Thanks
