Mullen didnt "stop giving a schytt", he was always lazy. He never put any effort into recruiting and just grabbed low hanging fruit no one else wanted, didnt bother to game plan, relying instead on halftime adjustments (which he was actually pretty decent at doing) and was more than happy with a 4 loss season. His best season at Cowbell ended in a three game triple faceplant too. This wasnt something new.

When hired the optimists, double pumpers, were happy because he won at Miss St, despite coming pff of a losing season. He really did try for a couple of seasons in his mullenesque way but once he had it confirmed his BO was solid, he checked out.
