Moon - If your looking for a good sci-fi film that you might have missed Joe Bob says check this out. Sam Rockwell plays an astronaut about to finish his three year solo mission on the moon. Rockwell is fantastic in this movie. I can't say too much about it without giving away the plot but this is one of my favorite sci-fi movies.

great movie. Rockwell is an underrated actor. He was also good in Seven Psychopaths. Much like Ryan Reynolds in buried (also excellent) the movie is carried by his performance in a limited space.

I forgot to comment on Moon, but from what I remember when I saw it several years back, I liked it a lot. Slight ripoff of 2001: A Space Odyssey, but then again, so was Interstellar, and that moved was awesome, too. And if you're going to rip off a film, might as well make it the quintessential space film.

The Revenant was really good but pretty long also. The down times of the movie made the action parts of the movie even better.

Sicario was decent. Del Toro was good in the movie, the rest were meh.

Vacation was funnier than I expected it to be. I thought it would just be down right stupid, but I got some good laughs out of it.

We watched Moon at the end of July 2009 - my wife was 8 months pregnant and Seattle broke 100 degrees 2 days in a row (approaching 100 is unheard of around here - we get to 90 and people start melting). Also, most folks out here don't have AC in there homes and it was mid-80s in our house (we don't have AC obviously, but we have lots of shade). We went out to eat and then to see Moon so we could be in a cool place for the wife. We had no idea what the movie was about and were pleasantly surprised. I'd give it a B+.

So...since we're all buds here and everything, I feel that this is kind of a safe zone, a tree of trust and understanding, a happy place where I can tell you I just watched...
Pitch Perfect 2 (not as good as the first, but still pretty good - the German chick is really smokin')

Where you high when you wrote this? Don't get me wrong, I love it, but it reads like "pregnant wife, heat, no AC, went to dinner, no idea about the movie = B+"

 We had no idea what the movie was about BEFORE we saw it (we had never seen any previews, nor heard of it).

Nothing wrong with it. Both films are hilarious.

I moved to Oregon the winter of 2003/2004. The wife and I were on the 3rd day of looking at houses. On what felt like our 100th house, the realtor looks at us and says, "this one even has central air." To which we replied, "What do you mean.... THIS one?" We bought a house without one.... and never needed it. One or two days would have been nice, like you say.

I've pretty much only watched Disney movies for the past 8 years..... you don't want to read those reviews.

The Revenant.

Saw this tonight on my long painful layover in Midland, Texas. I found it to be a lighthearted affair, full of whimsy and delightful effervescence. Breathtaking views of the natural unspoiled world with countless examples of how man can live in harmony not only with the animal kingdom but with other men of diverse backgrounds. Truly a movie the whole family will enjoy. This wholesome, uplifting period piece will enrich all who see it. I give it my highest rating.

I think I might have to strike this one off my list now...
