If you are talking to me, that was my next step but I resolved my problem this morning by turning my internet off and uninstalling my virus protection. Then it installed with no problem.

honestly man...I recommend doing it anyways...

The "Update" just leaves sticky old Windows residue...always best to wipe clean

Just 2 weeks left to get your free windows 10 upgrade, it ends July 29. You have option to revert back to your old windows if you don't like windows 10.

If you have upgraded you might have noticed that the "Restore" feature isn't turned on automatically, you need to enable that yourself.

So Windows 10 screwed up so&so computer? Did they(you) back-up the computer before starting the upgrade? If so there would no problem, just restore, it does it by default if anything goes wrong.

As an answer to a question about installing Win 10 on a new blank hard drive. I would download the newest version's ISO and burn it to a DVD or USB stick and give it a try. From what I understand your Product License number is kept on line now in your Microsoft account information.

Upgrading to Windows 10 via a clean install is much easier since the big Version 1511 “November update,” which allows you to clean install Windows 10 and activate it using a Windows 7, 8, or 8.1 product key. Before this update, you had to do an in-place upgrade in order to get the free upgrade offer from Microsoft, and then you could do a clean install of Windows 10. Now you can skip the in-between step.

Performing a clean install the right way takes some pre-wipe prep work in order to preserve your files and other saved data, though. Here’s everything you need to know, step-by-step.

off this particular topic, I went to chrome today and had to re-register here as gatorchatter failed to import. So I did, keeping my email addy but changing to my screen name. Has to make a password and was directed to wait until my new password was emailed to my addy. It wasn't. Any ideas other than going back and forth between browsers? Lenovo, Windows 10 if anyone needs to know... . HELP!!

I'm confused by your post. Are you saying that you went to Chrome for the 1st time or you upgraded/returned to Chrome and your cookies had been deleted? I think that you installed Chrome and imported your favorites from another browser. At any rate your username and password shouldn't change from Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Chrome or any other browser. My guess that you are entering something wrong because you are registered as "srivet" on the Gatorchatter web site and not on any particular browser, your "cookies" are remembering your log-in but you aren't. Maybe a mod will help you.

first time and my log in is the same for virtually everything I do. Gotta say, though, I'd love to re-register under a different user name that is less personal. I'd also like to stop writing in italics, but I suppose I'll stumble upon that remedy.

I did. After backtracking I discovered that my son entered my email incorrectly and a password was possibly sent there - The address exiest ,I suppose, but I have no electronic ties to it. It's driving me crazy going back an forth between two browsers... especially since IE is sooooo slooooow. Help a brother out, ox??

Do know the password for IE? If not, do you have the right Email address in Gatorchatter. and if so when logging in on Google Chrome just click "Forgot Password" and thaat will allow you to reset your password.

CHROME has nothing to do with it. Your account username and password would be the same on all the browsers that you try. Quit yanking my chain. :bwahaha:

yeah... cause this is fun yanking. Especially if your chain is chrome. Just fyi, when I hit "import bookmarks" a good 10 did not make the trip, including this site, Science Daily, NOAA, Spoting News and the UF sports website. Tell you what - you try contacting Mr. Rageous and direct him to my pleas, including this one, to delete my account in both places so I can rebuild. IE is infuriatingly slow and I have bad info on chrome. Hep a bro' out???

On the other hand, I could just remove myself since I am the only one who gives a $hit - but then I would miss Cover2's insights and would produce fewer original SEC pieces. In the big picture this is not even a whole pixel, so I'll visit randomly, comment not all, and go on... Adios.

I'm not trying to make you mad but trying to make you understand. Importing bookmarks only imports the web address (URL), it doesn't import any usernames or passwords from the other browser.

Whatever your Gatorchatter login for "srivet" on IE will be your login on Chrome.

Agaain, my login for chatter on IE is srivet13 - as is my email. I have not a clue what my password would be as chatter and many other sites did not migrate and my son used srivet as the addy for the new password, which apparently was sent to some poor slob with that addy. I'm just going to uninstall ie from my computer because it sucks so bad. I might replace it with Mozilla but have not decided whether I are enough anymore. Thanks for trying, no offense intended or taken, and Go Gators. Happy trails!
