Agaain, my login for chatter on IE is srivet13 - as is my email. I have not a clue what my password would be as chatter and many other sites did not migrate and my son used srivet as the addy for the new password, which apparently was sent to some poor slob with that addy. I'm just going to uninstall ie from my computer because it sucks so bad. I might replace it with Mozilla but have not decided whether I are enough anymore. Thanks for trying, no offense intended or taken, and Go Gators. Happy trails!
I looked and there is an "srivet" registered on Gatorchatter but no "srivet13".

So you can sign on Gatorchatter in "IE" but not Chrome?

Go to "Control Panel" click on "Credential Manager" then click on "Web Credentials " . Now highlight the URL for Gatorchatter . It should show your Username and the password will be ****'s. Now click on "Show" and your password will be visible.

If you have a password that you enter when you start your Windows account when you start your computer then you will have to enter that first.

Great... You only needed the download tool for a clean install or if you had trouble like I did.

@grengadgy

can you download Windows 10 to a flash drive during this free download period and then install it later if you choose?

You can download the ISO to a flash drive which is what I did. See the link. http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=691209

ATTENTION : I don't know if it look at a " Time Window" when you try to install it after the July 29th deadline. I will Google it to see if I can find an answer.

Yes, you could but it would be awkward , I would probably do a clean install on a new bigger hard drive.

I would install it on your computer then Win 10 will be digitally registered on your computer at Microsoft. Then if you want you can roll it back to Win 7 or whatever is on it now and Win 10 will be reserved for your computer.

Maybe ferg will verify this.

Yesterday, I took an unused Vista machine with some remaining life, installed an excess Windows 7 Home Premium version and then upgraded to Windows 10. Took some time but it worked perfectly.

That's good to hear. I think that I was the only one that has had any problem. :)

I updated my laptop with 8.1 this week. I don't use it a lot but it seems Win10 is working fine. I'm not going to update our two desktops with Win7. One is 4 years old and one is 6 years. I like Win 7 and I'm not sure how long I'll have those two anyway.

I would recommend that you upgrade your Win 7 systems. Even if you give them away, they will have more funtionality with Win 10.

Aren't they getting ready to stop supporting windows 7?

Security updates are scheduled to continue until January of 2020. Other updates ended last year. Updates for third party software, e.g. Chrome, will be ended at some point as well. For example, I found that I couldn't update the Chrome browser in that Vista system that I updated the other day.

Over time, a Windows 7 system will be able to run fewer and fewer updated versions of software. For an investment of $0 and a bit of time, you're extending the usability of your system for years.

I'm out of town until after that date anyway. Windows 7 is fine for those and how I use them. Thanks for the info though.
