Why no Appleby talk? (with a poll!)

Seems like all the talk is either about why Del Rio sucks or how Trask and Franks have unlimited/limited potential. What about Appleby? He had a great first half versus Tennessee, and admittedly sucked in the 2nd half and all of the Vandy game. Why not put him next week and see if he has improved? It's not like we have much to lose.
Everybody talking about putting Trask or Franks in this year is wasting breath. Mac is NOT going to burn either redshirt at this stage. I'll be surprised if he starts Appleby, but shocked if he hands over the reins to a true freshman quarterback right now. All that starting Trask or Franks is going to accomplish is seeing more struggle against superior competition (ironically, Presby would probably have been the best game to start Trask/Franks if Mac was so inclined). Appleby at least has experience and enough knowledge of our playbook.
So in conclusion, I have very little faith in Del Rio, but I am faithful that Appleby should start and could improve our offense this year (I wouldn't say the same for our true freshman QBs). I do look forward to the Franks/Trask competition, but not this year.

I've seen enough of Appleby ( & LDR ) that neither should start another game for the gators. So the choice is between which freshman. I say this late in the season, and to save the beatdown against LSU and the clowns, let's save Frank's redshirt. Also this will settle the rumors if the 3*whisperer can take a HS backup and get the W

I voted Appleby because I know there is no chance Mac goes to the freshman first.

Appleby may be injury prone also but at least with him you get more upside potential and he can actually run some. Nuss is calling running plays where the defense gets a big time edge if you don't have a mobile QB. I swear Del Rio was probably given the starting nod only because of who his dad is.

I'd pick Trask over Franks simply due to the fact that I think the RS benefits Franks more. He's skinnier than Trask and would benefit from keeping the RS so he can still develop physically.Also, from what I saw from Trask in the spring game was encouraging, he looks like a natural passer and can run a bit.

I'd go ahead and play one of the freshman and then we would be that further ahead going into next year. Del Rio is the worst of all possible worlds -- a quarterback who can't pass and can't run. Appleby has a lot of experience, but it's a lot of bad experience.

I think Mac will bring Appleby in the game for the 2nd half if LDR is struggling against SC and we are losing the game.

I actually voted LDR even though I think he sucks. Since he has been the starter to this point he should get the start, but as soon as he starts ****ting the bed he would be yanked. I would give the freshman alot of practice with the ones in anticipation of that happening.

Go with one of the Freshman at this point. Appleby does nothing for us next year and this year has become a wash (the East isn't beating the West this year in the SECCG). The kid Eason is going to be lights out if Georgia's line gets reasonably better with experience, so our Freshman is already 6 games behind in experience/taking your lumps. At least, our kid can get almost half a season against pretty descent competition to shore that up. A frosh out of the gate next year is nothing but a formula for another long painful season. I might feel differently about Appleby if Mac was doing some Leak/Tebow like packaging throughout this season but as it stands our frosh hasn't even whiffed the field of real competition. In any event if we are going to not use the freshman, than Appleby because Luke is in a 3 game personal cluster F and doesn't really deserve the chance to frustrate the team any further.

I would hate to lose either Trask or Franks a year of eligibility for 3 games, 2 of which we're going to get slapped around in. Throw Appleby in there, no way he could do worse than LDR and he's done with his eligibility after this season anyway. Franks or Trask will need an injury back up next year when Steve has them back in the Fun-n-Gun!!!!
