Forum Speed

I don't know what it is, and it's not just yesterday's NSD traffic, but the forum is becoming slower and slower for me. Anyone else having the same issue? I use it on my phone, 90% of the time, and it's become dreadful. Almost unbearable. It's also slowed on my computer.

Any thoughts?

I noticed it was notably slower in the chatterbox on NSD, but I haven't seen any problems since on either mobile (via mobile web browser not the app) or laptop.

I assume you've checked your local connection speeds?

It is particularly bad in threads with gifs....can't even get to bottom of the page...and box has been terrible today is video is involved

I have and nothing else is effected. I even ran the speed test app on my phone to see if it was responding differently and nothing has changed.

I exclusively use the mobile web browser.

URG, that reply post took 3 seconds to post once I hit "Post Reply". There's a status bar the shows in the top right corner that calculated the thinking cycle.

Completely agree. I've also noticed it in threads with just Youtube videos, i.e. the Random Music Thread. It's takes for ever!

What web browser are you using on your desktop/laptop and mobile? I'm using Chrome for both.

It seems to help if I close Safari for a minute or so before reopening it. I think that clears the cache a bit

I also do agree with goon, in threads with heavy gifs, they tend to load slower. Especially the ones where 2222 made gifs (which may have been larger file sizes).

I know Ox has file sizes limited to something like 5 MBs in the threads and something like 1.5 MBs in the chatterbox. Those aren't all that large, but I suppose that can add up in a thread.

It's more than that. Gifs used to load just fine and the browser was lightning fast. Something has changed recently, I'd say writhing the past 3-5 weeks.

We'll have to see if @oxrageous is dumping cached data regularly still. I can't see any of that kind of stuff.

It's all over. It's a little quicker at night, with less traffic, but slower in the day. Again, I've noticed this for a while, like I said a few weeks, not just the past couple days.

Maybe traffic has just picked up that much recently.

I know NSD was busy, but not markedly busier than we were last year. I suppose it could be on the Server end, they could always be doing something.
Also, during the offseason is when Ox starts to tinker with the site design/tools and trying new things. It's entirely possible that he's done something, but he'll have to speak to that.

I do, and have the same thing, but am not seeing any difference from norm. In fact I can't get a screenshot in fast enough.

This might sound like a dumb question, but how often to you restart your phone and laptop? Do they run all the time?

Wondering if it's your own cache doing it if it's not something ox is doing.

There really isn't much else I can explain as Ox woud have more knowledge on any changes that may be occurring recently. He don't tell us ****
