I don't think we have ever discussed our all time starting 5 basketball players at UF. With how well the current team has been playing I got to thinking. Many of these positions can be debated except one. So here's my all time starting 5 at UF:

Center: Neal Walk. I don't think anyone would disagree
Power Forward: Al Horford. Hard choice, but based on his basketball IQ I chose him.
Small Forward: Brewer. I picked Brewer for his slashing ability and his defense. He could guard 3 positions.
Shooting Guard: Vernon Maxwell. Yes, he is not on the books anymore and he is questionable person but he was a baller. Other wise you go with Ronnie Williams.
Point Guard: Wilbekin. I picked Wilbekin because he was a lock down defender and was clutch when we needed it.

Would love to hear what you think.

Walk over Noah? No.

PF Horford
C Noah
SF Brewer
SG Beal
PG Wilbekin

Beal played one season but he played on all three ends -- scoring, defense, attitude. I'll take him all day long over head case Maxwell.

C: Walk/Noah - I could go either way here
PF: Hortford
SF: Brewer/Parsons - could go either way
SG: Beal - agree here... Beal was fantastic and was a great rebounder
PG: White Chocolate - I think he is better than Wilbekin.

Mike Miller has to be at the 3. Love Corey Brewer, the kid was poor growing up the son of a farmer, but returned for the repeat. He's probably my all time favorite.

However, Miller was a beast.

Best 5 we have had together and arguable at their position.

But to change it up

PG: Calathes
SG: Beal
SF: Miller
PF: Lee
C: Walk (Never saw him play but he was probably up here)

Edit: Doing THE 04s....then everyone else lol

Agreed, Matt Bonner should get an honorable mention somewhere

How did I forget about Miller?!!!

C: Noah - after thinking about it... he was so dominant as a college player
PF: Hortford
SF: Miller - how did I forget him!
SG: Beal
PG. White Chocolate - still was amazing

We've obviously had some better defenders at PG. And obviously some offensive machines like Dupay and Williams. Those back to back championship teams were held together by Green. NBA legacy that completely controlled the floor.

Not an NBA talent like a couple others but a perfect fit for college system.

2nd team:

C: Meathook
PF: Horford (Close one with Haslem)
SF: Parsons
SG: Beal
PG: Dupay (Wilbekin should probably be here but I like Dupay's nonstop energy)

Give me Walsh as my 11th.

We've had some really, really great players.

I would take the 1s and 2s against any school's historical lineup across the country. The only schools that I think could give us fits would be Michigan State, North Carolina, and maybe Kentucky.

I think Uconn and Duke would Round out the top six.

UF in the top six?

HERESY!

This is the same that i came up with. Noah and Horford might the best frontcourt in college basketball history.

My view is:

PG: Wilbekin with only Green as close. I am not going to put a one year players at SG and I certainly am not putting 20ish game player here.
SG: Miller, I know he is out of position but Wilbekin (or Green) have enough handle that this would work.
SF: Brewer
PF: Horford
C: Noah

David Lee was booed by the Knicks' fans when they drafted him in the first round. He has had a great career.

Humphrey should have been final four MVP in 2007. He broke both final four games open. plus the elite 8 game vs Oregon. Plus he busted the net in the elite 8.

Really surprised more people don't have Jason Williams as PG I know Wilbekin was a better defender, but I would take Williams overall.
