If it not a current coach that can only mean 3 guys: Spurrier, Stoops, or Kelly.

But all of those would be relatively short sighted. Not bad hires. Just shortsighted.
Come in, stay for 10 years or so, win a few natties (RIP CANETHING), leave the program to a groomed coordinator like Lincoln Riley. Nothing wrong with that to me

They dropped 73 points this weekend. That is Spurrier-esque.

I’ve come around. That guy should be the number one target.

Are you concerned that Frost is a guy who so far this year has passed only 42% of the time and last year passed only 46% of the time?

Coaching is like politics...voters(fans) have short memories...Watch the press conference....That's a man with an Ace up his sleeve.
How many times due we watch these things unfold only to be shocked by who is picked. Certainly not every time, but you get my point. We could easily have a left field hire, but if we do, we’ll all wonder why we didn’t think of that coach.

No, Urban wasn’t pass happy, but we hit a lot of homeruns in the run game

Kelly's personality can be in question? (Arrogance of thinking he deserves to be NFL HC?)
Kelly has been out of CFB for 5 years.
Kelly has not worked the state of Florida recruiting circuit = zero relationships.
Kelly is old. UF gets 3 years out of him?

Scott Frost is young. UF could have him 10 years or permanently. When he gets UF to the Top probably only the NFL could steal him away?

Frost is fiesty, teacher-boss to his kids.(Not a pal-friend foremost.)
Frost teaches his kids with his feet on the field and his hands on the ball.
When his athletes are dripping sweat, Frost is dripping sweat.
Frost knows quarterbacking because he was a star QB in college.
Frost knows defense because he studied & played DB in the NFL.
Frost has recruited the State of Florida, has relationships started.
Frost delivers straightforward teach-talk. He's a clear motivational speaker.

Any and all hires can disappoint us, but Scott Frost is a pretty safe choice with the biggest upside.
Our UF Program, right now, needs a dynamo driving it, injecting fluid energy. Gotta be young.

Frost is great...on paper. His heart though is with UNL (I know, don't write). We may just have forced Nebraska's hand into going for him. Read somewhere that all they would have to do is send Tom Osborne to ask and it's done.

What worries me is that if Frost signs on here, it will just be a quick stepping stone to UNL - just like the Head Esophagus did but minus the NCs.

Not really. I actually would prefer a run heavy offense to set up the pass. But you need a monster oLine to do that. Even Spurrier’s best years were run heavy.

I'm going to soon create another list of all possible coaches mentioned in this thread. Throw out some zany implausible names (bill belicheck) so that I can fill up the list.

Frost is pretty firey.

Check out the Unsportsmanlike Penalty after a Targeting ruling he recevied this past game.

From what I've read he's intrigued by Florida and it's fertile recruiting base. The type of talent he could shine with resides here. Can he get them to go to Nebraska? The answer is no. At least nowhere near the same pace. He'd have everything in the world he'd need to be a massive success here. He'd more than likely be a massive success at Nebraska too though, since his division is way easier than the east.

We need to know if Mrs. Frost is a native Nebraskan and whether L Phillips still lives in Nebraska.:)

Recruiting elite athletes to Nebraska would seem to be a tough sell in today's world. No longer do Devaney and Osborne load up with walk on farm kids for offensive lineman while getting overlooked Florida running backs to handle the skill positions. Not saying the call of the alma mater wouldn't be strong but his best chance for big time success would not be running the Cornhusker program.

I'd be happy with either one. I don't quite understand a lot of the preemptive Kelly bashing. I think Kelly is a proven winner. Being out of CFB for a few years, and not having the natural ties to FL recruiting could be slight concerns. And I'm not sure, but how much had Frost recruited FL before joining UCF? Maybe a lot, which if so is a plus. Maybe not much. A good staff can make up for the HBC's antipathy for recruiting (that approach worked well enough for Spurrier). Also, Kelly is the same age as Urban, and is younger than Saban was when he took over 'Bama... So I don't see age as an issue. A good run for a coach would be 8-12 years for me. Any more than that is just icing on the cake.

While I think Frost would likely pan out - I think Kelly may actually be more likely... Unless Frost and his family (just a wife I guess) are incredibly settled in here in FL then I think a return to Nebraska is more likely for him. Going back to where you grew up, and won a national title, to resurrect them, and be a hero forever... That's a lot to pass up (unless his family is all down here, his wife hates Nebraska, or some other external we're not aware of). As many have mentioned before, Frost could easily be Neb's SOS.
