55 yard TD pass by Grier. Beautiful bomb.

7/8, 162 yards and 2 TD's.

This is a net plus for Gundy and big minus for Campbell. Gotta prevent scores, not just make 'em.

The likelihood of Frost, meanwhile, just went up a notch.

WVU hasn't been able to run the ball all year and they are absolutely steamrolling this Iowa State team. Where's that great defense I had been hearing about?

The offense isn't exactly glittering. Not a resume-building day for the young lad.

And it seems they took their foot off the gas to run some clock.

Well they passed the ball one less time in the second half. So I am not so sure they took their foot off the gas. It was a 7 point game at the start of the 4th quarter and they they don't have a coach named Muschamp or McElwain, so I suspect that UWVa was trying on offense the whole second half. The are not a sit on 20 to 3 lead type group.

They threw the ball 25 times and ran 47....one seriously strange game for WVU. While they were obviously trying to establish the run, it almost cost them the damn game.

I watch a bit of the game and ISU played a 3 man front dropping 8 into coverage. UWVa responded by running the ball much more than usual. Clearly it was a take what the opponent gives you move, but as you said it almost cost them the the game. Of course the unknown is if trying to force passes against 8 man coverages would have cost them the game.

Will Grier has saved Gator football for the 3rd time.
1.) By coming here and giving us hope by winning his first 6 games.
2.) By releasing the true version(SDS?) of what happened between Butters and him. It showed that Butters character needed to be questioned by the AD and Boosters....It was and he was fired for it.
3.) By beating an unqualified HC candidate from Iowa State while completing 80% of his passes for 2 TD's and striking such fear into the heart of the Iowa State defense with his arm that they dropped into 8 and 9 man coverages while allowing one of the weakest running game in CFB to dominate them...

Will Grier should be given a statue IMO.....

My post was made before the second half. The second to last possession of the first half they seemed to be more conservative for some reason, like they were content to get a FG and call it a half.

Either way, Iowa State shut that crap down in the second half.

Fair enough, I read you post as the shut it down in the 2nd half, here are the first half stats. I can that if I had read it in a timely fashion, I might know it was posted at halftime and it does read much differently in that time frame.

some times it's hard for Holgerson to get enough coke when he is on the road.
