I apologize if this has been said already, but I haven’t had a chance to read the last 11 pages of this thread but I felt compelled to chime in.

The point I want to make is that if Gundy can’t dominate the Big 12, he’s not going to dominate the SEC either. And that goes for any coach. No one is going to miraculously win at UF just because we have better athletes to recruit here. I want a coach that can dominate the SEC like Spurrier did and like Saban does now. Spurrier won the ACC, Meyer won big at Utah. A great coach will win anywhere. And coaches like Gundy will always win 9 or 10 games but rarely win the conference or beats their big rivals.

Les Miles is on line 1...

@HaysCarlyon: Scouting Scott Frost: Taking an in-depth look at UCF's coach and possible top target for the #Gators. http://ow.ly/MgGs30gqA85
And this is just one more bit of evidence as to why we want Frost.

"Frost did something at the end of the first half that stood out – something Steve Spurrier and Urban Meyer might’ve tried, but certainly not Will Muschamp or McElwain.

UCF took over at its 30-yard line with 12 seconds left and two timeouts. Take a knee and go to the half up 21-14, right?

Nope.

Frost was bold. UCF easily executed a 12-yard pass that took six seconds. The Knights then connected on a 21-yard pass to SMU’s 37 with one second remaining.

Frost elected to try a 54-yard field goal. It was no good. Still, Frost’s decision-making was brilliant.

This is the mindset that allows a team to rank first in the country in scoring. It sends the perfect message to the whole team."

Agreed. And don't want a guy who's chasing the highest paycheck. But UCF can pay $3.5M and Nebraska will allegedly offer $6.5M. If that's true do we match it? If he's the guy then we pay what it takes. I'm really not interested in going to 3rd or 4th on our list again.

It would be reasonable for the contract to be incentive laced. Or even to be something like $4M year one, $5M year two, $6M year three. But it don't work that way and agents do the negotiating and they're gonna get as much as they can. Maybe, hopefully, since Frost's agent is Trace Armstrong he steers Frost away from going after just the highest paycheck. Wishful thinking.

I think UF should have a coach that is worth $6.5M a year. So going after bargain basement hires doesn't interest me. Go big or go home.

I don’t care if UCF can pay $3.5 or $6... this shouldn’t be completely about the money. Of course you have to pay competitive, but I want a coach who picks UF because of the opportunity not the money.

I also agree UF should have a coach worth 6.5 million, but I feel like the coach should prove he is worth it before getting paid.

@NaturalWorks_: We can. Can't force an AD to use that money. 3 cheap hires = 3 coaching failures. Each one worse than the next.

I have to just keep telling myself to be patient, but I know there is stuff going on in the background. For now all we have are rumors and rumors of rumors. Will probably be close to the end of the month or maybe even December before we get some real meat. My money is on Frost.

Everyone should have realized that timeline from the beginning... if it's a coach already employed it was never going to be announced before December
