Saw something online that Athletes First has an office in Gainesville, so an employee of theirs being in Gainesville probably wouldn't be out of the ordinary. Employees of theirs getting off a UF plane WOULD be out of the ordinary.
So Andy responded that it makes sense that he could be on the plane seeing how he lives in Gainesville. So why is he getting free jet rides paid by UF?

Been seeing a lot of fans from our rivals saying they hope we get Chip rather than mullen or Frost

So here's a "for instance" regarding going bowling...we beat UAB and FSU crushes Delaware State. Assuming FSU will beat ULM after they play us, the UF-FSU game could legitimately be a "who goes home to watch the other team play in a bowl" game. There's a bit more incentive for our players (not to mention that they'd be playing that school in Tally...). I don't think FSU would qualify with only five wins, but I could be wrong.

Right...they are all shaking in their shoes at the thought of us landing any of them....well, besides Mullen that is.

There are no rival fan bases that would prefer us to get chip over mullen, or anyone else over mullen for that matter. Our rivals are praying we end up with mullen.

I posted in one of the other threads that we were vetting Kelly before a lot of this came out. I have no issue with that and I believe that we may announce Friday.

I don't believe for a second there is value to dropping a bowl game. I think all bowl games are meaningless, but extra practice is always good (even with other coaches) and the SEC gets money and the players get swag (even for a crappy bowl game). The last thing I would want to do is slam player moral more.

Chip can make calls and recruit. Many of the new guys hired will be coaching their teams in bowl games. Chip will have all the free time he needs and he needs to figure out hiring guys. Anybody he hires can call recruits while working with their other team. There is literally ZERO recruiting benefit to cancelling the bowl game. That statement is what proves the source is false.

I understand your point about recruiting. My thing is that I'm not in favor of rewarding people who don't deserve it. This team has been crap, and the players shouldn't get the reward of playing in a bowl. I don't care if the players don't like it. It's an embarrassment to the university to go bowling with only 5 wins, and by not going you are communicating to the fans and players that mediocrity isn't acceptable. Don't like it. Work hard and be better next year.

I honestly don't think the extra practice time will make much of a difference. The entire offense is going to change dramatically in the spring, and guys that are banged up have more time to get healthy. The defense may get some benefit of more practice time, but extra time in the weight room under a real strength and conditioning coach would be pretty beneficial too.

This whole conversation may be moot. It's very possible that we lose one or two more games this season anyways.

Gotta love the dislikes. I didn't say that I don't want it to be true. Of course I do! But I don't believe it at this time. I sure hope I am wrong though!!

I am unhappy with this season... I know these kids put a lot of time and effort into it. I truly believe they quit for UGA and Mizzou.

I believe these kids have been through a ton this year between suspensions, injuries and coaching issues. These are college kids... I don't think it is ridiculous to send them to a bowl game if we win out and they get the opportunity. Most of these kids have never had opportunities like that in their lives. Also.. what type of message does that send to recruits if UF rejects going to the game?

Why, because wit CK they expect UF, sooner or later, to be in NCAA trouble? I have to think that Stricklin is smart enough to write a contract that will nullify $$$$ and anything else CK has from us if that were to happen.

What if Kelly fired Nuss and started installing his offense? You basically get two springs to install the offense. All he really has to do is install about a dozen plays and we’d score more points than Nuss’s system.

Just think about it. They get about an extra 15 practices to install the basic playbook plus a lower bowl game. During winter conditioning they have the playbook and the core concepts to study. Then spring you perfect the core concepts and build on them. It’s a heck of a jumpstart with no downside because our offense can’t get any worse

That would be cool, but I never remember a coach taking over a new team and coaching their bowl game.

Re: UGA game. Mac told them about rumors of his departure before the game. Besides being totally unprofessional of him, what do you think that did for their morale heading onto the field? I don't think that they "quit" for UGA as much as they were in a bad state of mind when they took the field.

Living here in Savannah, it's funny how all the Bulldog fans (family, too) got all excited over that win - and that it's "the beginning of payback for all of their losses to us" (sic). Since SOS arrived, they've only won seven times, and what's really funny is that two of those wins were (1) week immediately after we fired Zook (and we almost won that one in '04) and this year, when the team had just been basically told by their HC that he wouldn't be returning. They haven't had a good, dominant win over us (without any "mind game" distraction issues) since they knocked us around in 1997.
