I initially didn’t LOVE the hire, I liked it....but he killed the PC and he knows what expectations are. I think he can provide the teams we all want. I just hope he doesn’t even have a face to face meeting with nuss and nord to fire them. He should text them “just start cleaning out your office” and end it with

Nothing about this hire makes me excited, even his enthusiasm seems off to me. This talk about MSU being a joke school therefore giving excuses for his failures are off base. Have any of you been there? Their football facilities are better than ours. They are renovating their baseball stadium, at 45mill I think. The atmosphere in their football stadium is nutz on game day, cowbells, and loud as hell. MSU gets the same tv revenue that all SEC schools get. He could not get players to go there period, that’s why he has never won anything of significance. Why not reach out to Shane Matthews and ask him about that school. His daughter loves it, he has said countless times what a great school it is in all aspects. Mullen couldn’t get players to go there to win, how is he going to do it here to the level we expect? Prestige and past school success matters, but recruiting is all about sales, & we have been getting killed at it.

If you were a 4 or 5* recruite I’m sure you’d pick Starkville over bama, Auburn, uga, Florida, LSwho, fsu, Miami, Clemson, hell I could keep going

Our geographic location alone will increase his recruiting ability. Plus his teeth are not similar to Mr Ed.

Sum thoughts and questions:

1) So now we got an HC who owns a vacation home in Starkville, Mississippi?
2) Many did not want Mullen here in Gainesville -- mainly Mrs. Mullen.
3) Of course Fields wants to come to Miss. State South. MSU AD + HC = UF CFB Pogram.
4) Still, we may as well support our Gator players along with SS's may as well hire HC.
5) Our UF research center is already working on a thicker QB football helmet.
6) Who referred to this as a lateral move? Mullen? Megan?
7) Sooo Megan is his QB of Life.?
8) CC Fraud: "Was that just a mistake? or did they plan it, go out there to do wrong?"
9) The press asked some ugly questions and Dan handled them more honestly than our last 3 HCs.
10) Y'all hear : "You don't want your QB to run, but when a play breaks down want him to improvise?
11) Sounds like he's open to "talks" with Tebow, Spurrier etc.
12) With MSU in the West, he's had to have better OLs than we've had lately.?? How's that possible.
13) He can place a call to Alex Smith, Dak Prescott. BTW articles are now discussing Dak as a bust.??

GatChat whether forecast, past/present/future = topical storms ... monsoons of posts on Kelly, then Mullen. I miss the halcion days of Gator Chatter. I'm too old to run windsprints to keep up with the page-pace.

If a quicker path to get on the football field you are damn right I’d go. Don’t think for a second these kids don’t know the talent level at their positions. Mullen has been unable to convince some of those kids to change their minds.

You must be high...these kids want to win too. Why do you think bama hast 5* 3 deep at every position???? They could go anywhere and play immediately. They chose to go to Alabama to get rings

I'm not exactly overwhelmed with this turn of events. But I can hear my dear departed Grandma's voice in my head, saying what she would always say when something didn't quite work out as expected..."It could be worse!" And I guess that's where I am right now, wait and see. I kinda had a feeling when Nebraska fired their HBC that Frost was most likely out of reach and this process would become more of a crap shoot than a lock.

For me personally, I think the key to making this thing work is that the first two details Mullen has to work out is assembling a good staff that can not only coach at a higher level than what we've experienced for at least these past three seasons, but who can also contribute to the second detail and that is salvaging a decent recruiting class. We'll see what shakes out pretty soon, I'm sure.

I think Mullen obviously comes in with some repair work as far as the fan base is concerned, given comments attributed to him and his missus, but he's got 7 million reasons to get it cleaned up (and I still can't conceive that figure in this situation BTW). I don't expect him to fall prostrate at a press conference confessing his sins (nor would I expect him to do so), but I think the onus is clearly on him to come in and start winning and what he can do with the recruits is again a first big test. He's not lauded as a great recruiter, but a good staff can help to offset that if it is so. A little bird told me that he is already planning in-home visits with many of the commits, so I have to take that as a positive.

A poll in one of the recent threads had me answer, concerning this hire, that "anything was better than 'Butters and Nuss!'" so that's all I've got for now. Come in and win. That's what I want. I'll be watching carefully (and maybe dreaming about what might have been!).

@cover2 If you've seen Mullen's press conference, any thoughts?
