Wish I could get a bottle of some Four Roses LE. Not a fan of their 3 regular offerings

What is it you don’t like about the standards? Some people think it’s too floral. You might not love the limiteds if you aren’t a fan of the overall profile

I had them at a tasting and just didn't like them. It wasn't so much the profile as just the actual flavor if that makes sense. They do get progressively better from standard to single barrel. I had the barrel strength and it was awesome. I probably need to try them again sometime though, as tastes can change.

Yeah the barrel proofers are where they really shine so if you liked it you may like the limiteds if you ever see them. Market Square Liquor in Tallahassee has several barrel proof recipes almost all the time. The store on timberlane (or something like that) rd is the best one. They usually sell pours of their store pics in the attached bar. Last I heard they had like 40 different store picks. I always hit that store on the way to the beach from Atlanta.

I know of many whiskey choices that can help temporarily forget and or destroy but none that are helpful for repair. You need a good cigar to get that started.

If you are near G'ville, Dorn's has Knob Creek single barrel store picks for $30, great deal

Makers 46 cask strength from the gift shop hitting the spot tonight. What y’all drinking?
Whaaat? They didn't have the cask strength 46 when I was up there. How is it?

I had some Masterson's, but pretty much done for the night.

Nah man whatchu got? I enjoy some extra anejo now and again. Brought some Mexico only bottles back from Cabo a couple years ago and really like them. They’re pretty sweet so mainly a dessert pour for me. Cava De Orro and Chula Parranda

I really like it. Way more than the regular makers cask strength. It was a gift shop only release a couple years ago but now that they do the Makers Private selections (which are effing amazing by the way) you see all sorts of combos, one of which is basically makers 46 CS

when I was up there, they just described the Private Selections as a difference of staves. I didn't know you could get cask strength that way too. Not a big Maker's fan by any measure, but the 46 isn't bad and the cask strength is a little better in my opinion.

Yeah so basically with the private selections there are 5 different stave types and the buyer selects 10 staves in any combination. So there are tons of possibilities. They are all bottled at barrel proof. They have a few different combos available in the gift shop (one of which will always be 46) and liquor barn usually has a couple of their own picks. They just recently made the private selections available to retailers outside of Kentucky. So far I’ve only heard of 1 store here in GA that has bought a barrel.

I totally missed that about Private Select being barrel proof. Thanks for the heads up.
