He was processed. Had a terrible junior year, had a good showing at the opening and had a decent but not great senior year. His rating is way too high for him. He probably doesn’t fit in the system. Apparently he was never a take for the past staff til he got the rating bump and they took him for a class bump. Nobody else in the state wants him, he’s going to Minnesota
That makes sense. Also read that he put on a lot of weight.

As a VERY vocal critic of Mullen and the prospect of his giving us a worthless dink and dunk offense that goes nowhere i am very encouraged by the photo of Corral with Mullen & Spurrier. Corral's skill set is a down field passer that can run. Very encouraging.
Dude...I photoshoped that. I even left an error (look at his right collar). Sorry to get your hopes up. My pics/gifs are not to be taken seriously.

If we’re turning him away, there better be a dang good reason. I agree this one hurts.

Cause for optimism?
https://www.seccountry.com/florida/florida-recruiting-matt-corral

The next two weeks will be critical for the nation’s No. 3 pro-style quarterback.

Matt Corral, a consensus top-100 overall recruit, has been committed to Florida since July 22, but that decision is now in limbo due to the coaching changes at UF.

Corral remains solid to the Gators and wants to enroll early, but needs to build a relationship with new Florida coach Dan Mullen in a short period of time. They first spoke last week.

“Matt has heard from Coach Mullen,” said his father Peter Corral. “They talked on the phone. Coach Mullen told him everything starts over and that he was going to get to know Matt.”

Corral’s father said Mullen contacted him as well, but they have yet to schedule an in-home visit or an official visit with Florida.

“Coach Mullen called my wife and I at home after one his assistants [Billy Gonzales] came to see Matt,” his father said. “He was just telling us that Matt is his guy and that he can’t wait to meet us. We just want to know where things stand.”

In addition to Corral, Mullen made contact with a handful of quarterbacks last week and has targeted mostly dual-threat passers. He conducted an in-home visit last Tuesday with 5-star QB Justin Fields, who is currently committed to Georgia.

“I’m fine with that. Matt’s fine with that, too,” Corral’s father said of Mullen’s interest in Fields. “Matt’s not afraid of competition. It’s just about communication. If they need to sign a second quarterback, we just want to be updated on what’s going on.”

Corral’s father thinks highly of Mullen’s offense and believes Matt can have success under his tutelage. He also liked the message from Gonzales last Thursday when he visited Corral at Long Beach Poly High School.

“Coach Gonzales told Matt he’s got the ‘it’ factor,” Corral’s father said. “He told us they can build their offense around him and his strengths. That’s what Matt wants.

“His goal is to play in the NFL and Coach Mullen can get him there. Everybody knows he can coach quarterbacks. He’s a great coach. There’s no doubt about that.”

However, Corral’s father admits that Matt still needs to sit down with Mullen at some point this month to put a stamp on his commitment.

Corral officially visits Ole Miss this weekend and may take a trip to LSU as well, according to his father. Alabama is also in the mix for Corral, who visited the Crimson Tide last month.

The U.S. Army All-American and Elite 11 finalist will be a mid-year enrollee and plans to sign early on Dec. 20.

“Hopefully everything will fall into place,” Corral’s father said. “I just want Matt to be happy, settled down, comfortable where he’s at and knowing that he’s wanted there.”

You guys are so funny with this Matt Corral stuff.....some of you even seem to be giddy with the idea of him decomitting. The kid has been the glue to this class and will be part of it in 2 weeks, then you can complain about how he wont be a good fit and want to see him fail

Dunno. The whole thing is a little baffling honestly. I do think we need two QBs this cycle because we've got hot garbage there right now. I don't understand not locking him down. Even if he isn't the QB power type guy you can still have him running the outside zone because the kid can move.

Paging John Brantley IV...

I don’t know if Corral is a fit for for Mullen or not, they have to make that decision. But I do know this: Don’t snag the 4/5-star player if he doesn’t fit what you do.

The Leak/Tebow effort won a NC but also benefited from great defense and special teams play. And Tebow. Credit Mullen & Meyer fir creatively making that work and credit Leak’s attitude/leadership, but he wasn’t ideal for what they wanted to do.

And your QBs need to have similar skill sets so the whole offense need not change if the starter gets injured or is having a bad day.

This kid is no John Brantley. He actually has some wheels... I don't know why everyone keeps saying he should decommit or we shouldn't want him now that we have Mullen? Has anyone watched some of his highlights? He's no Tim Tebow, in terms of being a runner, but the kid can throw the damn ball and CAN also run... I sure as hell hope he sticks but would certainly be to pick up a second QB in this class because we can certainly go through some QB's during the course of a season! HOPEFULLY that'll change with an "actual" strength and conditioning coach.

Yeah, that's actually not a bad play, especially if the guy you're looking to lock down is a early signing period guy. The one issue I have is if that isn't communicated to the guys hanging on because of him we could see the whole damn thing implode.

Are these kids being told to look elsewhere, or are they decommiting because they know the glue of the class (Corral) is leaving also. I just hope this isnt like Eason situation, throwing all our eggs in one basket and going after Fields, and Corral decommits and we're stuck without a decent qb in this class

Why do people not read the thread before they comment? Corral's status is shown just a few posts up.
