Stokes is definitely not his brother. And he's definitely not a hustle player.
Dude, I'm stoked on Stokes. His older brother played for Tennerc and used to befuddle Billy D nearly every time. He was a beast on the glass and handed us many a defeat. So glad his "little" brother chose to be Gator. Now if only you would jump aboard and come on in for the big win.

Don't be talking **** about a Gator none of us have ever seen play. The kid's gonna ball out for us. He ain't no Gomer Pyle.

Opposing coaches have adjusted to our style of play. They slow us down bringing the ball up and make us use the full clock. Our 3's are more contested now and we see a lot more zone. We are not a good half court team and have no rhythm on offense. We just have to live the disadvantage with our bigs for now and our little guys have to find a way to get open uncontested shots.

I've seen him play. He's nothing like his brother. Do you think I'm saying hes not good just to be a dick? Im telling you he's about 50lbs over weight ,doesnt rebound, doesn't defend, zero motor, doesn't care to be in the paint and just wants to shoot jumpers.

He is bigger and more skilled on the offensive end. Haven't seen a big with his skill set and size in a while. If he can learn to use his size he could be star....Bonzie Colson type but better offensively and less athletic is a comparison
Lee, you know i respect your opinion but obviously you didn't see him play for img. He's not a star and really struggled. He doesn't have a colson like post game. Hes a 300 lb pick and pop 5.

That's the thing though. He isn't going to be 300 lbs. That was only because he was like 315 for football. He will be 275ish this season and prob. 250 is my hope next season. Not sure Colson is a good comparison after thinking about it. My original thought was a Jared Sullinger. A wide body stretch 4 who can fill up space and reb, but I do think Stokes can become a star if he puts in the work. He has the tools. I saw him some in High School and really liked what I saw for the most part

Doesn't Stokes have a good shooting touch - certainly tough to knock him off balance. UF certainly signed him for good reasons.? He is still a rookie who will advance his skills. It's his heavyweight troubles that worry me.

So you're saying he's a 300 pounder who can set screens and shoot threes? I love him already.

You get a like for going back to one of the best avatars ever
After speaking with my niece about gender choices, I've decided to try being a woman for a while. Thinking about going out for a scolly in girl's soccer. Just wondering what shower I'll have access to? And will I have to tuck my junk all the time? Serious life questions, bro.

Believe me, you'll be a Stokes fan in the end. Kid has talent and size.

The worst thing that could have happened to this team, is what happened.
When they started the season red hot, it validated their desire to jack up 3's with no more than one pass per possession. Now that they have cooled off, they have no idea how to run the offense and get good shots.

Although I do agree that getting Big John back will help on the defensive side, you have to be blind or a member of White's family to believe that Egbunu alone will solve our massive defensive lapses. This team is extremely sloppy and struggles to transition from offense to defense.
Although I do believe that this team will improve, I am not sure that they will make the quantum leap required at this point. If not, we are staring at an NIT team.

I could not agree more. I went to the last 2 games and walked away shaking my head. I left the Word game when we had a double digit lead, but I missed the 17-2 run. Was I suppossed to think differently about a team that goes on a run against a truly awful and inferior opponent? I tend to watch the game within the game see exactly what you see. And trying to incorporate guys who have not played a single minute into the rotation late in the season will be a real task. it might yield benefits, but it will be difficult. Right now the team is just not smart on the defensive end. On the offensive side, well it is just offensive. They are going to get zoned up every game and will try and shoot over the top. May make some and win or go cold and lose. But I see no reason that ball movement and player movement (especially off the ball) will become a part of this team's M O anytime soon.

They have no clue what help defense is. I watched some old games from the Patric Young era and it made me sick because it reinforced just how bad this team is defensively. Help and recover, help and recover..........is a concept foreign to this team.
Just like you, I have learned through the nearly 40 years I have been following this basketball team how to watch everything on the court except the ball. With this team you have to stop after a while because you get depressed.
Seriously, really weak, mercenary teams come to Gainesville to be sacrificial lambs and instead find themselves taking it to this team only to be eventually worn down by lack of depth or home cooking officiating. This team has gobs of talent and absolutely no clue how to play as a team.

Maybe, just maybe, it will get better

Yeah right now we are an NIT team. The SEC is up this year it appears and UK doesn't have the best team so another team could sneak up and win the SEC other than UF or UK. We just can't shoot straight for whatever reason and our D is severely lacking. Anything can happen though. Golden State had a horrible shooting game last night and lost 96-82 so you never know...

Recognizing that we are one of the worst teams at inside high % scoring, I say this team should be revamped at having Hayes & Gak become 40%+ of our scoring -- insist on it. Can include Stone in that, if you can pound it into his head and through the hoop. Same guys need to bang out rebounds, lots more of them. It is ridiculous that White doesn't much believe in this as crucial. IDT this team, as is, goes deep in the NIT. Will UF be embarrassed in SEC competition?

To the OP: we have no room for optimism here, take your stuff to that other place.
