lots of orange and blue glasses on here pretending like they dont see what's being built in athens. Call me a dawg all you like, but I see whats
coming and i dont like it. Kirby is destroying it on the recruiting trail, already has them in the title game in his second year, and its only gonna keep coming. Thankfully we have a coach that understands what it takes. If we still had butters, wed be mired in mediocrity for years to come

Foley's cheap approach was tolerable when there were only a handful of programs with money. With today's giant TV contracts and conference revenue sharing it just won't work. Times change.

A bit premature to crown their asses.
Yeah, well let's just sleep on it and let the train roar right by us. I have no problem with a highly efficient recruiting "machine". I do have a problem with facility wars in the extreme and the "we'll take anybody if it helps us win" mentality. In my opinion there's nothing wrong with spending big bucks and effort on recruiting.

I think Alabama wins this one, but Georgia will be a force over the next few years. I do not see Florida beating them anytime soon.

You can't ignore what's happening in Athens, not if you have half a brain or care anything about Florida football. UGA's addition is our subtraction, and vice-versa. We are inextricably linked, backward and forward.

They're now in the title game in just Smart's second year. The mojo is palpable. If they beat Bama, two things happen. The wind is now fully at their back and Saban comes that much closer to retirement. Who's going to be ready to fill the void when it happens?

You hope it's us, but Smart's Georgia is putting itself in position in a hurry.

That would catch us up to the mid 90s, if we ever get them built.

Then you need a staff to fill the football operations building.
I thought there would be plenty of open spots in the UAA building? Needs to be.

There’s no denying that UGA’s approach and the corresponding money they are spending is impressive. We’ve got to hope that Kirby as a game day coach is closer to the guy last year who didn’t seem to know how to play prevent defense while TN beat them on a Hail Mary rather than the guy who has them playing for the NC this year.

I believe what kirby has done so far is very impressive especially on the recruiting trail. But let's not forget what he walked into. He had what 6 or 7 1st through 4th round draft picks come back for another year? That's unheard of and won't happen again. Let's see what little boy hairdo does next year before we anoint him the next Saban. I honestly think he's going to be a great one as much as that sucks to say but it's a little to early for that.

Call me a homer but UGA still doesn't scare me to become some dynasty, there is too much parity (aside from Bama) across the top 10 teams. If OU and Riley didn't pull a big game bob or Richt, we wouldn't even be talking about UGA. UGA will get smashed by 20 plus points Monday and we will be back at it next year when all of their Senior loaded team is out to the NFL or off to selling mortgages

As much as I hate the Dwags, I can't help but admire how KS has been killing it up there especially when compared to UF over the same time-frame. For cryin' out loud, dude is going to have three 5* QB's on his roster this year!! That article really makes me nervous for the future. But, DM has been doing and saying all the right things so far; I wouldn't say killing it, but doing better than expected. Maybe he has some grand future plan like this as well.

Didn't McGarity come from UF?

Have you seen his incoming class? SIX five stars. He's reloading. I'm not saying run around like the sky is falling but it would be dangerous to ignore what's happening in Athens.

There is more excitement in Athens since Vince Dooley was hired. Now the Gators have got to get up and go. Nothing like a little competition to see if you've still got some fight left in you. I worry about the UF administration not having the will to counter Georgia and Alabama. It doesn't take a lot of will and strength to run a great gymnastics program. Football is another story. And there really is no other game in town. This message board would not exist if Florida didn't have a football team. That's where all the interest and passion lies. If you're second place in football all the "all sports" trophies in the world aren't going to negate the fact that you are just an also-ran. Some people like it that way. Not most of us.

Not ignoring at all, just looking back the last 16 years and seeing aside from 2 bad seasons, they have always been decent but never elite. There is no way they should have won last week and they will lose to Bama nearly finishing the same way they always have

Attention to Detail? Process? That is about all I talk about and fittingly the 2 teams left standing have all of those things. Obviously UGA is moving to have all of those things and even tho I saw Kirby make some awful mistakes in year 1 in game managment, he benefitted from 3 agregious game management decisions by Riley in the OU game. I also liked when Kirby, late in the game and UGA facing 3rd and 10 on the game tying drive, yelled to his QB, "2 downs". I am sure Fromm knew that already and that they were going on 4th either way, but the fact that Kirby was not too overwhelmed to say that was a good thing. To me it is simple b/c that is how I watch games, but very very few coaches can do it.

Meh, they certainly seem to have recruiting going, which is obviously important. But he walked in at a perfect time (its true, better to be lucky than good) with those seniors returning and the high point of Georgia HS football which obviously helped bump up his recruiting. We may look back on this year and say how Chubb and Michel started this, because without those two, they would not be in the position they are in now. But still, a long way to go before calling them the next Alabama.

I think using the last 16 years is a huge mistake. Just MHO. Recruiting is the lifeblood of any sustained success in CFB.

They have never recruited like they are currently. Richt ON RIVALS had THREE top 5 recruiting classes. Three in how many years? FIFTEEN. Smart has TWO already in three years and is building a machine. That third year? 9th. A top ten transition class. WTF? They aren't recruiting decent anymore. They are recruiting ELITE.

Sticking your head in the sand is a mistake.(not saying you are)

Hmm.. weren't people saying this about Jimbo just 4 years ago?

That escalated quickly.
Not me.

Ive said all along that he was a 4 loss coach without Rapeis.

By hiring chump, Foley made Jimbo more money than he made chump.
