I honestly think Cheez has taken his game to the next level. The announcers are not raving about him most game for no reason.
If you compare his stats from last to this year (and he has played some REAL competition without a good big man to help our game it is
impressive. the first # is last year the 2nd this year...............FG% 41% now 47% 3pt % 31% now 44% steals 1.3pg now 2.0 pg
assists pg 3.8 now 5.8 scoring pg 7.2 to 13.1 reb pg 3.3 to 4.7....................He plays a lot of minutes and has quite a few games with lots of assists with no TOs. oh yeah his FT % has gone from 79% to 90%.............I watch most of the games and have seen most of his career games. He has stepped up this year in a huge way to me. Egbunu's absence is tough and Egor has taken some bad shots that hurt us. I dont think Kevaughn Allen has taken his new role well with Egor and Hudson on the floor. I wish he could adjust to them and play better.

Good win. Stone played well. We might have to be 5 or 6 seed but if Egbanu is back in form by end of Feb. We will be in fantastic shape.

I am very impressed with this team's turnaround lately. The biggest difference I've seen in the past few games is a sense of urgency on defense. We certainly have issues without our bigs, but during our losses the defense has been horrible. We are making up for lack of size with effort, and that's something we didn't have in our losses. We are actually rebounding a lot better which is huge. We do much better in transition and you can't do that if you're not winning the rebound battle. Our half court offense actually looked better today which is a plus. We very easily could have started SEC play 0-3. 3-0 is very impressive right now.

I like Cheez, but he pulls a few head scratchers every game. But I want everyone to watch the video and check out Cheez wiping his shoes right before he breaks on the play. He had made up his mind before the pass that was thought about. And that is the nature of Cheez, peaks and valleys. Really like the he's taken over for Hill, but I'd like to see him cut down on the few preventable decisions and take his game to that next level.

I think the decision to go for the steal was predicated on time. With a bit less than 3 second left, Chiozza breaking on that ball had a good shot at keeping them from even getting a shot off had he not stolen it cleanly like he did.

A few noted that Chiozza didn’t have a particularly strong game. I liked the 6:1 assist to turnover ratio today. I liked the leadership he displayed. And as previously noted he is a cold blooded assassin.

He is the heart and soul of this team.

UF could easily add 4-6 points per game if Hayes focused on layups. Dude misses 2-3 dunks every game.

This to me is at least partly a fuction of Hayes' lack of thickness. He and Gak are so lean it is easier to block their shot without getting body.

Well yeah, he knew the situation and made a great anticipation. I think this is what confounds many of us. He has the wits to make a play like that, and you could see that he read it, but then he'll made a few bonehead decisions in the game. Stuff like picking up his dribble or poor shot selection. Peaks and valleys

Certainly the deep 3 point shot after making two shots in a row was sketchy, but that is how PG go sometimes.

Probably, but that seems to account for about half of the failed attempts. Hayes just flat out misses more dunks than any Gator I can recall.

He made some good blocks today, though.

Leave Cheese alone you drunk idiot. The guy is the heart and soul of this team. Point guards going a million miles an hour will make mistakes and look foolish on occasion... he's a million times better than the last guy at point who got us to 3 Elite Eights and a Final Four. Back off, moron. That's my man, Cheese. Bringing home the Victories. Posting outstanding, league-leading type numbers... the dude's metrics are on point ... so STFU and get on board for the big win.... Eggie coming back and then we'll see who's a bonehead! Biatches!!!

I know rankings don't mean a damn thing in college basketball, but we should be back in the top 25 next week. It was an absolute bloodbath of ranked teams losing all week and we won two tough road games.

Chris Harry caught up with Chiozza and his parents after the game.

This "comeback game" differed in that we had no huge scoring bursts. Our guys just kept balancing on the highwire, yet did not fall off. That type "keeping on" should add to this team's resilience. Everybody contributed. What's odd about Chiozza's winning shot is that no Mizzou defender came "flying-by" in block/foul attempt mode?

Good posters are right to expect us to have an "unnice" uptick once Egbunu improves our O & D around the basket.
I'd sure like to hear words on how he's doing: is he practicing any at all? And what's the progress of Stokes? And what can Shands do to "cure" Johnson? Those three need time to kick off rust and to have the team gel around their presence. Still, we've only got improvement to expect. Those injured returns should allow increase in the ppgs of Egor, Hudson, and hopefully Allen?

PS>> guys, no backsliding!
