Here's the deal. I am glad he is keeping Seider and coaching TEs is not too bad. NORD WAS OUR TEs COACH. Bad decision or not, we are in better shape.

Seider could really grab some limelight if he can make our TE position seriously threatening and relevant again. I mean we have sucked derriere from that weapon position for like a decade. I would love to see some functional TE play turning clutch in moving the chains. Go Gators!

You obviously did not read my post very closely or, if you did, your ability to comprehend the written word has escaped you. Read it again, slowly if needed.

:lol2:......to be honest Goolsby was very good at catching 1 yard passes on 3rd down.....when we needed 7.....My only problem with him was when he did a Stevie Wonder impersonation on all of his blocking assignments....
Look in modern CFB you either have TE's and use them or you don't and work around it offensively by spreading your formations....I'm not seeing this as a productive change...as someone else said RB's were probably the best position on the team.

In 2016, Goolsby made some nice plays and showed real athleticism as a receiver & runner after the catch. He regressed big time in 2017 and I agree with you about his blocking. I lay that at Nord’s feet primarily. Lewis & Stephens haven’t developed at all. Crappy offenses tend to overuse the TE so this was a really craptastic position.

Good coaches can adapt to new position groups especially when they aren’t highly technical ones (QB, CB). He’s got Hevesy to guide him so I expect he’ll be fine.

If Goolsby had ever learned to block in his 4 years he would have made a stud of an HBack working out of the backfield in specific formations. TE is a very difficult position to learn and play at the college level at least a true LOS TE. If we're going to make that part of this offense I'd rather see a guy coaching that position who either played it or coached it in the past.....but like everything else with this team we're going to have to wait and see what they come up with. Hope for the best and maybe Seider will be an upgrade for those guys.

Well, he's a good coach, a good recruiter, Mullen wants him and he wants to be here. Considering Nord was the TE coach, it's already a win before seeing what he can do.

RBs have to block and catch too, so it's not like he has no idea what to do with them. It's an odd move but as has been said, Mullen wanted his guy but didn't want to lose Seider either. Also, no one made him re-up his contract...he chose to stay.

Not sure how anyone can say this is a "bad" decision until games have been played and the results are in. I guess some people will find something to complain about if they look hard enough.
No sir, wasn't looking hard at all.....actually it was just my opinion after the productivity Seider got out of the RBs last year. I personally believe the age old statement of "if it isn't broken, then don't fix it". I do agree however that Seider could be a great shot in the arm for TE production.

This is my thought as well. If he's such a "great recruiter" AND running backs coach I'm sure he got other offers. He's getting the opportunity to improve his resume, work w/ another head coach in a new (to him) offense (and give his inputs), and very likely move on to an OC job.

I try to pick and choose my battles in life, and this one isn't worth getting into a pissing contest over. If Mullen retained Nord, I'd be ready to 'fight a mother*cker!!'

Look at the title and the OP. That’s not “speculating.” That’s a poor attempt at making a statement of fact, even though there’s no proof to back it up when only time will tell. Maybe the guy’s opinion is correct, but it’s too early to know.

Some people on this board are so insistent on sounding like the smartest guy in the room without having any experience or insider info. Pardon the pumpers for showing some skepticism - I’m sure that’s a violation of GC rules.

So the only opinions allowed are the ones agreeing with the OP? Just trying to understand the rules.
