I was just "ok" w' the Mullen hire. However, I'm really excited to see if he can get it done on the field. As for our 2018 class I see a lot of positives that we have lacked in the last few cycles.

1. Went head to head w' big time programs and won.
- E. Jones, Bama & OSU
- R. Gouraige, Auburn, Clemson
- J. Copeland, Bama, Mom
- M. Langham, Bama, AU
- D. Pierce, Bama, AU, Georgia
- A. Chatfield, Miami, OSU
- D. Reese, fsu, UGA, Miami

2. We didn't just fill spots. Our class has 19 recruits, 20 if we add Gerald. Everyone above us have more recruits w' the exception of Bama and Clemson. Our star avg is 7th best according to rivals. Something we have missed out on in a while.

3. If you do add Grimes 5* and Van Jefferson 4* rating we are rated even higher.

4. All our D recruits are 4* players. Not bad for an offensive coach.

Really excited to see improvement this season and see what DM can do w' a few quality recruiting cycles.

Go Gators & uga SUX

We all know who the big winner was yesterday. You are logged into his website.
Speaking of the benevolent bovine, he has been strangely silent in this thread. Probably spent all day yesterday making sure the hamsters were keeping in sync on the big day.

As far as our class goes, we can compare ourselves to other schools all we want, but in the end it matters how we did, not how they did.

Does Coach Mullen have something greater to strive for next year? Of course.
From everything we can see, there was absolutely no lack of effort on the part of the staff. They gave it their all and got some darned good results. So long as the product on the field come August reflects the same efforts, we will be able to hold our own and get back to winning.

A couple of thoughts

1. This was a very good transition class. We got closer to having the elite talent we need to compete for true championships. I am really looking forward to seeing what Mullen and staff can do with a full cycle.

2. We absolutely have to start owning the state and we made some progress (Copeland is an example). I am tired of seeing kids from Florida playing for titles for other schools. That needs to end.

3. UGA had an incredible class. Kirby has done an incredible job recruiting. There is no way to deny that. That said... Kirby had a senior team with a senior OL and top RBs last year to protect his QB. His QB played well and made good throws, but lets see what Kirby can do when he isn't working with a team full of seniors. Next year will be a good test of Kirby's ability to coach. He isn't going to have many teams that mature with all the talent he is bringing in.. guys are going to leave early or transfer.

4. The comparisons of what Mullen did at MSU against ranked teams are meaningless... I care more about what he does when he has comparable talent... when he has top talent he wins.. we know that. The big question is if he can consistently get top talent... I believe he can coach... if he can recruit with the big boys we are on our way back.

5. It is going to take a couple years to get back, but one or two top classes after this and we could be in the running quickly. Next year's class will tell us a lot. If Mullen can't pull a top 5 class then we are going to have issues.

Glad to see us beat out Bama for two stud players.
Halalujah amen BMF. That could be the very first sign of us eroding Saban's long-solid bank. :D:D

disabled vet? dog vet? Dan Vullinz?

... oh God, a donkey with soaring circling vulture wings.

Maybe others had the subconscious "knee-jerk" dislike for Copeland's Mom's reaction this way =
She obviously inserts herself into his thinking, as she did even after he made his choice. As such an influence, she was doing her best to move him away from choosing to be a Gator. If she had her way Copeland would have snubbed UF. Gators got Copeland because he defied Mom's overbearing (overbearing like Saban) influence. Who knows how close she came to sending him to Bama? [therein my resentment] Now it's up to Mullen & crew to provide all these worthy stars with the offense that brings them camaraderie of Gator-joy.

For the record...i thought Mullen did well in such a short time. Need to fill both lines with studs. It's a great start.

Btw **** Georgia. Let's get that clear.

Agree with almost everything...are you crediting Mullen with Meyers wins? If so...ive seen that mistake on here multiple times. Some people basically credit Mullen for Meyers time here. Total bull ****.

I'm not giving him full credit because he didn't run the D, but I am giving him credit for the success of the offense.

Is it 100%... of course not.. Meyer definitely had input, but to ignore Mullen's influence would be equally wrong. There was a dramatic difference in how the offense ran between 2008 and 2009 after Mullen left. Mullen wasn't always perfect, but I think in general he showed when he had talent he could run a productive offense.

Do you give him zero credit for that?

I sat in a near-freezing downpour at the old Gator Bowl in 1968 and watched the most hate-worthy Dawg of all times (VD) run up a 51-0 humiliation of my beloved Gators - for a cheap laugh. I was watching when Monty Grow "fell down" for no apparent reason and thus allowed Linsey Scott to elect himself to the "Florida's most hated hall of fame." I watched the mutts celebrate like a bunch no-class ninnies during one of their rare wins of recent decades. I watched Dooley help to deny UF their first SEC title after having his ass handed to him on the field. And last but not least, having grown up in Jax before the Spurrier as HC era, I've watched their crass, witless, white-trash fan base act like the scum they are, on too many occasions to recount. My loathing of that program is old and deep. I will never forget and I will never forgive.

Monty Grow is having a rough week this week, but I think you are taking it a bit too far to accuse a 10 or 11 year old kid of not covering Lindsay Scott better than he did. I don't doubt your ability to never forgive, but you might want to work on the never forgetting part.

You'll have to excuse him. Some people don't realize just how long ago 1980 was.

Not you, per se. Just some people.

And good to see you are still here and among the living. I just checked in to see how the evil empire felt about their recruiting class.

Well for UGA fans there's THAT game and all the other "great losses"
I stand corrected on that point alone. You still suck however. Incidentally it was Tim Groves. Admittedly, details can get fuzzy after all these years, but my hatred of UGA burns as brightly as ever. You can go back to licking your ass now - you snide little bitch.

My point was that Smart had the benefit of Richt’s success (Chubb and Michel, integral to their offense this year, were both MR recruits). A lack of talent was never Richt’s problem at Georgia.

So right DaddyG. ... IMO, having Chubb & Michel gave UGa-Smart a huge recruiting draw. More than any college duo they flashed in neon : "NFL-caliber team".

I think he and the staff will do what it takes to not only get us back to respectability, but make us competitive for the top prizes.

Another great post cover2. If I were comptroller, I'd give your copywriter a raise (ox bux, of course).
So, I believe this concept has been added to Darwin's Theory of Evolution = When creatures got into enriched environments, that's when they made evolutionary jumps. I'm thinking Mullen will feel the need and notice the talent flexibility to enhance his style, his HC philosophy, pulling us out of the era of "Foley philofloppy".

IMO, Mullen has broken through the gravitational orbit that was MSU, ready to reach new heights that's at UF.
UF's HC ain't a fake HC, ain't in fear. He is infused with Gator-natty excitement that will fill our athletes with win-power as well as resonate with prospective recruits.

Again, the Mullen that grows here will be fertilized by his Tebow-Harvin template. DM will find the way.
DM will be pointed-minded at Smart & our UGa-rivalry intensecity (Jax). = pivotal TV, 'pivotroll' recruiting trumpets.

I guess Spurrier won't 'tamper' but his smiling media-comments will reinforce the Mullenmoves.
So now let the athletes develop into All Americans via coaches' applied CFB savvy.
I bet Gator Great alumni are drawn here to inspire & to bask in Gator renewed prowess and to be with a more genuinely likeable HC.

I believe that we've got increased fun to look forward to. So Go Gators, Get Going.
We now get to wait-see with positive convictions not the confusions of our past quackmires.

Yeah, I assumed that was you from the old days. Kudos for not constantly checking in all year to gloat about your season, only to disappear post Auburn 1, and then resurface to tell us you'd never been prouder. Mr 1-SEC-In-12-Years could learn a thing or two from you about rival fan etiquette.
