Mullen: Talent isn't UF's issue, it's work ethic and buy-in

I've been buying in for decades. He might want to spend some time addressing the students who show up late if at all.
Let's be rills. What do the team and recruits want? A full stadium, sure? Full of middle aged dudes with beer bellies? No, they want to see hot chics in the stands screaming for them.

My family of 4 love getting to attend the spring game. It’s a fun time and it’s nearly free.

Amen. My kids are all adults. It would be far cheaper if we weren’t drawn to Midtown like a magnet. Saturday day game? Going to cost me heavily.

Worth every nickel.

This is how far we've fallen, a mediocre coach like Mullen looks like a world beater.

Don't get me wrong, mediocre is heads and tails above boring and embarrassing.

I am certain Mullen will make us competitive which would have been inexcusable years ago but is dreamed about now.

80,000+ for a glorified scrimmage? Ain't happening Eddie.

Here's an idea, get high schools across the state to bus in their football players (any grade) and any families that want to attend. UF can subsidize it perhaps, to get it off the ground. This brings future possible recruits on campus to experience UF all day long with the other sports and activities, as well as get the family bought in on what UF is like. This will put bodies in the stands, and it will ensure UF is known throughout the state.

Let's be rills. What do the team and recruits want? A full stadium, sure? Full of middle aged dudes with beer bellies? No, they want to see hot chics in the stands screaming for them.

Let's adjust my first suggestion and have a dress code for those HS buses = HS football players where a jersey (so we can identify future recruits and where they are from), and all HS girls are required to wear bikinis or less. Moms and dads, please remain fully clothed.

Other programs do it (Bama, Dwags off the top of my head). That said, there’s a helluva lot more things to do in Florida during the spring than attend a scrimmage.

You point to the top two. Who else sells out for spring games? Yeah, some places count the peanut salesmen and bathroom attendants to publish a number that seems high enough to pretend to be a sell out. But even sticking to the top programs in the country, how many are full on a regular basis? AL I won't argue, they are blind idiots frothing at the mouth. UGA, I'll argue it is just recently at best and not a longstanding tradition of more than 1-2 yrs at best. tOSU? No. Clemson? Maybe in recent years with the CFP games they've played in building up their fan base....maybe. F$U? Not even if you count the half time circus performers. Oklahoma? I don't believe so. Oregon? Not even with free Nike clothes given away. Michigan State? Nope. Washington? Nope. And those are all the participants in the CFP. Extend out to other fervent fan bases, and you are looking at Aub trying, TX trying (though their product has driven away more fans than drawn them in). MIA? HAH! Nobody. That's who. Other than AL, nobody is truly filling the stands for a spring game.

Yeah, there's a lot of other things to do in the spring, especially in FL. If I still lived in G'ville, I'd bring the family. If I lived within driving distance, it is a maybe.

What Mullen did at Starkville is nothing short of amazing.
:britney:

You guys are hilarious. Reminds me of when you tried to make Butters into a champion bc "no one can win at CSU" except the guy before who went 10-2.

No one can win at Cowbell.... except the guy before (Sherrill) who won the west.

Whatever. He is doing as good as can be expected recruiting but claiming his mediocre record and embarassing losses are some impecccable record just makes you look silly.

Sherrill was 75-75-2 over 13 years.
Mullen was 69-46 over 9 years.

Nobody is claiming anything having to do with “some impeccable record”, that’s just you trying to make your point sound like it’s better than it is. All that’s being said is he’s obviously capable, much more so than Butters, who you keep trying to refer to as a comparison. Mullen’s been coaching in the SEC, not in the laughable Mountain West Conference.

Quit being such a Debbie downer donkey.
