I am wondering if Billy D. is realizing that the NBA is not what it was cracked up to be, especially with free agency, building super teams and might be looking to get back into college hoops. Would Lville hire a Pitino protege??? I always thought Billy D. is more suited for the college game....could he pull a SOS and return to the game he truly loves??? It would not surprise me.

Who knows, I think he does not need any more money, and might retire. Hopefully back to Gville.

I think he ends up at a Duke or UNC blue blood type school.

I could see UNC making a run at him when their coach retires. Duke’s gonna hire one of their own after Coach K retires. I wouldn’t be surprised for him to land at Providence in about 10 years.

Donovan's rep is quite good from his UF days, but do you really see UL taking a Pitino protegee? I think they would avoid that this hire.

The one thing about Donovan is I think he was tired of the recruiting battles. He kept saying he wanted to go to the NBA where he could focus 100% on basketball. I'm not sure he would want to go back to coaching at the college level, but who knows. He isn't fired yet and I honestly don't think he will quit.

He told Indiana and anOSU to beat it this off season, he's done with college for a long time.

Waiting on Duke or UNC if he returns to the college game. Louisville and UK are both going to get drilled by the NCAA.

Why would you not think Duke and NC wouldn't as well, both were mentioned in the write up about the scandal. Funny how most of the blue bloods were a part of it. Duke has the #1,#2, and #3 players in the 2019 class committed. Yea there is no dirty play involved anywhere in that. Those guys have been cheating for a long time. Kinda like Bama and now UGA in football. You don't just pull 8 5* players in one year without something going on.

You answered you own question, like Bama, Duke and UNC won't be hit because they are the bluest of the blue bloods, and the NCAA will deem them too big to fail. Kentucky will take a slap on the wrist, but because of everything swirling around Pitino Louisville will be hit like a dude that bent over in the prison shower.

Billy D had an itch he just had to scratch. If he had stayed in Gainesville, he could have challenged Mike K for winningest all time college coach. Recruiting has to be a drag, but the NBA is a player's league and the coach is little more than a figurehead these days, IMO. Not like when Red Auerbach and even Phil Jackson coached. I see Donovan back in college one day, but highly doubt it will be at Florida. Too bad. He did great things here and was a true asset to the university and the community.

It's impossible to predict the future or know how Donovan will react to certain circumstances.

What I really mean to say is, I don't know whether he stays in the NBA or returns to the college game. I also can't rule out a return to Florida if everything were to line up right. Don't his parents still live in Gainesville? Wouldn't that matter?

Donovan doesn't strike me as the journeyman type. Wouldn't it be cool to have him coaching us again on a floor named after him?

BTW, trustees, why hasn't the naming thing happened already?
