Truly though, our pitchers shouldn't have allowed them 6 runs. 6 runs can beat you certain days.
Can't remember when last we had a player hit 2 HRs in one game. Horvath is swamping pitchers.

I don;t disagree regarding the total # of runs, but we started a frosh, replaced him with a frosh, then went to a soph, then replaced him with a frosh before turning to Byrne. It was a mid week game so Sully is only going to throw the young guys who only pitch out of the bullpen on the weekends by necessity. This is a totally different team Friday -Sunday. yes, if we give up 6+ on the weekends, then I will become concerned. But the idea is to let the young guys throw mid week, hopefully they will develop and become contributors out of the bullpen on the weekends if needed!

Huge SEC opening weekend for us. Would be awesome to sweep the gamecocks, but anytime you can go up against an SEC foe and go 2 out of 3 you have to be happy. I think SC is currently unranked but I wouldn't be surprised to see that change by the end of the season. I'll be streaming the game along with March madness tonight!

We need an *** Official Baseball Thread"*** so each game has a real score-delivery process.
I don't know what's happening??

Strange game, but any win in SEC comp. is good and on the road it is great. 30 conference games in the SEC is going to be quite a chore this year for all the teams being how strong this conference is.

Home plate ump was very liberal with his strike zone early on for both teams but it got the USCe head coach and one player tossed. Then it looked like the zone tightened late in the game. Did not think Singer was overly sharp but he was good enough. USCe is much better team this year than last and have some guys that can hit. And we got some very timely hits. Also made their starter work deep into counts even tho it took us a while to get our first hit. Would love to take all 3 but would settle for 2 but nice to get the first one that's for sure.

This year's Gator team has more hitting depth up and down the lineup than last years. My concern right now is freshman Jack Leftwich. He came in rated the top RHP in the state of Florida and was unhittable his first several appearances. But his last 3 times out (UCF, FSU, USC) he's been shelled. As good as his fastball is, he's not locating it and is getting hammered. He's a guy we're going to need to pitch well, along with 2 other freshmen, Jordan Butler & Tommy Mace, if we're going to make another deep run. Any win on the road in the SEC is a good one and with Kowar & Dyson, we have a starting pitching advantage on Saturday & Sunday over just about any team in the country.

Good call on Leftwich Ocala. He does have a great arm but his fastball does not seem to move a lot, so him missing location can be harmful as we have seen his past 3 appearances. However, his last 2 appearances have been with a lead, so I like the fact that he is at least throwing strikes and not walking guys. Solo home runs do not bother so much b/c walks lead to crooked number innings. But he needs to improve no doubt. I was hoping with a 4 run lead last nite we could have avoided Byrne and stretched him out on Sat./ Sun. Perhaps we can get a comfortable lead early today but this is SEC play so running away from an opponent is probably not going to happen!
