So I assume you're using a spray gun and air compressor. Did you have to buy those items to do the job?

Nope. When I started looking into this attempting this I came across this website:

http://www.automotivetouchup.com/

So I bought the kit that came with primer, my base coat, and the clearcoat... all in aerosol cans. What’s interesting is with this size job I used about half of each can.

It is possible to get a decent paint job out of rattle cans if you know what you're doing.

Well I dont.

But.... it is what it is. I enjoyed the body work, bondo, primer. That top coat and polising it truly sucked.

Screw it. I have a can of plastidip left. I am doing the front grill. There are a million little dings in that thing.

Haha. Thanks coot. I was joking about the drinking part. It’s really not an exciting story. I was trimming oak branches and was obviously parked a little too close to the action.

As long as you don’t put you or someone else in harm’s way, all else can be fixed. Great story. Thanks for sharing it.

:headslap:

If you do it again, get better products. That rattle can paint just wont ever approach real auto paint in hardness. epoxy primer is the boss also. you can buy this stuff in small quantities in most of the Free States still.

I have no doubt you are correct. Hopefully.... I’ll never do this again. I learned enough to know that I really don’t enjoy doing it and I would certainly never attempt it on a newer vehicle.

Just read through this thread. Now I am someone that beats up my autos. I take great care of them and have an awesome mechanic for the last 20 years. Needless to say though I hit stuff. You my friend have done an AWESOME job with the F150. Great work! I had a ‘01 Supercrew that I loved. Which I traded in with a tore up tailgate.

Pretty kewl Brad.

I think you did an excellent job, and even though I enjoy doing stuff like that, don't think I'd ever take it on.
