What did you think? I thought Trask looked most game ready from a passing standpoint. He's big, calm, has a great arm and a terrific release. I'd love to see him in a Spurrier offense.

That's the rub. It's not, and he's not much of a running threat. Franks is, but Franks is Franks with the ball in his hands -- a very good open-field runner, horrible surveying the field.

That brings me to EJ. He's easily the most talented quarterback on the roster. He gets the ball cocked early -- which is going to be a problem when defensive ends come crashing from the blind side -- and the ball explodes from his hands. No fear of finding the man over the middle and obviously a threat to go the distance running.

His mere presence changes defenses, opens up running lanes for the backs, makes us that much more dangerous.

Dunno. If I had to win the opener, I think I'd be tempted to put the raw freshman in there and pray he doesn't turn the ball over a bunch. He's really impressive.

I never really thought that Trask could actually start until today.

Trask looks like best option at this point. I think he can run more than what was shown today and showed a little escapability on a few plays.

Jones looks to have all the tools to be a stud at some point.

Franks is Franks.

Hope we land the Burrow kid from OSU ultimately.

Trask made some nice throws but missed badly on (a couple??) crossing routes - including that one on fourth down. I wish Franks could get the mental game together. He's mobile with a big arm. The ball comes off EJ's arm at a whole different speed. Needs some touch. He has what look to be serious wheels. I'm not sure I would hand him the keys right off the bat. I'd be surprised if he isn't playing by the Georgia game.

I saw some good and bad in both. Mullen is on record as saying the QB running the ball is an important part of this offense. Trask isn't going to do that. Trask is very good in the pocket. He knows how to slide to give himself more time. He can run if he needs to but isn't a running QB. However, his inexperience really showed. He's an accurate thrower but hurried things on some throws. Like I said, inexperience.

Franks did what Franks does. He knows nothing of touch unlike Trask. The most important thing? Franks can run the ball if necessary. He can at least provide some threat. Trask won't at all. Tyhey both hold on to the ball too long. Trask has an excuse. Franks doesn't at this point.

Jones looked like a freshman, but a promising one. He isn't playing until he bulks up. He needs size.

I thought the same at first glance. He's listed at 196. That isn't exactly anemic. Maybe 15-20 pounds and he's ready to handle the hits.

You also might never see a worse offense than what we roll out with this fall.....
Not predicting a top 10 offense but it will be an improvement over the BS we’ve rolled with the last 5 years. Might not be quite as efficient as 2012 but I’d guess your pessimism has more to do with your dislike of the offensive concept instead of any legit concern.

Trask is better than Franks. And measurably better. Franks just holds onto the ball too long.

Jones is immensely better than all of them. But I don’t want him to get any PT this year. Let’s get a functional OL in place before we put in our future. And that’s probably not happening for another year.

I doubt Jones would be ready until late 2018. That QB at OSU looked pretty good today. I guess he might leave if he thinks he doesnt have a pretty good chance to be the starter. He would almost guaranteed be an upgrade over Franks and Trask.

My legit concern is in the thread title....If we ran the wishbone and won I be OK with it at this point....

It’s not the best situation but we are better off than any year since 2012 with the exception of 2015... for half of that year.
