Top ranked Gator baseball host #22 Auburn at the MAC in another Thursday, Friday, Saturday series. Game times are 7pm, 6:30pm and 2pm respectively. Thursday game on ESPNU and Fri, and Sat are streaming. UF is coming off of taking 2 of 3 at then #9 UK but suffered a mid week setback to Mercer 6-4 as a sidearming reliever struck out 12 Gators in 6 innings of relief. Auburn was one of the biggest surprises early in the year but came back to reality before reentering the rankings. Auburn got well last weekend by sweeping last place Bama in Tuscaloosa and hammered them senseless in all 3 games. Thursday's game pits what is believed to be the top 2 starting pitchers in the SEC with Brady Singer facing Casey Mize. We know about Singer but Mize is 8-1 with a 2.25 ERA and right now is considered to be the draft's top ranked college pitcher and a potential overall #1. Singer was talked about as the top ranked college pitcher at the beginning of the year and is still highly thought of and as of now a sure fire top 10 pick. Should be a great pitching matchup and a quick game. Go Gators!!!!!!!

I vividly remember the sidewinder from the College of Charleston dominating our guys in the CWS a few years ago. Gators came in as #1 overall seed and went 0-2 and BBQ. At least I think they were the #1. Charleston had a pretty good tournament though.

There has to be something about that delivery that just befuddles hitters, probably due to the fact that they rarely ever see it. Different release points, etc.

I knew we were screwed against Coastal Carolina in 2016. The only time in his career he hasn't choked in a major, Coastal grad Dustin Johnson won the US Open right before we played them. We never had a chance.

Singer vs. Mize is huge. Our guys have got to start going with the pitch more and quit swinging for the fences so much. We have a better team, but need to show it. Big series for both teams and I don't want the rubber game to come down to a freshman on the mound for us deciding the series.

I think we are going to bounce back this weekend. I'm hoping we can be patient tonight against Mize. That dude strikes out a ton of hitters.

Yes we went to Omaha as the top seed and a very heavy favorite, but it is baseball. I will say C of C had a pretty good tourney, they won the Damn thing, LOL. As for this weekend, the weather is supposed to be great so hopefully it will be close to SRO for all 3 games!

Mize was great for Auburn but Brady Singer was better. India's 1st inning HR was the difference and Byrne got his 11th save. Great win.

Great Game 1 as both pitchers were very, very good and Indy's 2 run homer was huge in the 1st inning. Great weather and the game was just over 2 hours longs. An announced crowd of 3900:lmao:. Not even close!! Place was practically empty and it was a damn shame given the pitching matchup. Weather was beautiful and I am sure there were other alternatives and yes it started at 7pm, so I have heard all the excuses, but it was the epitome of our fickle, transient fan base. It is why the idea of building a new park all the way over to almost Archer Road will prove to be an awful idea over time. But it was proof to the morons who have argued we need a larger park to keep up with the Jonses. We can't fill the bandbox we have now. Might as well make it smaller. But to each their own. I felt bad for the players of both teams. Top ranked team hosting the #1 ranked starting pitcher in college and the place was full of people dressed up like empty seats. That type of game is why I was a little surprised that Sully did not accept other offers in recent years.

Again great game, great pitching and a good way to get the series started for the good guys!

Thursday night was the reason for the smaller crowd and that's on the SEC/ESPN TV deal that forces some "weekend" series to be played Thurs.-Sat. Tonight & Saturday's crowd will be big. I've been to 5 games this year and 4 of them have been near capacity, the other one had a 2 hour rain delay. Florida's baseball attendance is not up to what LSU, Arkansas, Ole Miss & Miss. St. get, but we're still Top 10 nationally. And I think building a new stadium near the lacrosse, soccer & softball fields will improve, not hurt, attendance. Time will tell. The fact that there will be more chairbacks and most of the stadium will be in shade will draw people who won't go now when you have to sit in the sun for 3+ hours.

The pitching duel was great to watch. O'Sullivan's comments about India were spot on. You don't always have to get a hit to have a good at bat. he made some good swings on tough pitches and laid off of some that would have screwed a lesser player into the ground. I hope we get to see just how good India, Singer, Kowar, Dalton and the rest of our Gators are in the next few weeks.

Just noticed how Gator HR hitters Dalton (16), India (14)... but India has 137 ABs & Dalton 175 ABs - wow.
Those two are in the NCAA Top-10 HR sluggers. Also, India is batting .416, 6th in the Nation. Late start, great start.
Schwartz (10HR) is doing solid, but would love to see him chasing India & Dalton in slugging. Gator hitting + pitching doing greatly.

Too many strikeouts and several of our guys are in mini-slumps at the plate. Team batting average has been slowly coming down for a couple of weeks. Kowar always seems to struggle early, then settles down and pitches great. But not tonight. He just couldn't locate his pitches and Auburn didn't miss when he did. UF down 5-2, bottom of the 4th.

Gators were terrible tonight. Pitching sucked, 2 errors. Auburn pounded us. We're 3-4 in our last 7 games and are relying on a freshman starting his first game against an SEC opponent tomorrow to win this series. Hope the kid comes through.
