Saturday Redbox Double Feature

Thor: Ragnarock (2017): By far the best Thor movie. It's a movie that understand how crazy and unrealistic the concept of Thor is. A number of call backs to previous MCU movies. Hulk is in it, and he tends to smash. All the usual players minus Natalie Portman (good thing) and add one of the chicks from Westworld (see her tits there) are in it. Its a good set up for the space adventure which will be the Infinity War. For Entertainment value 8/10.

It (2017): I will preface this by saying I haven't seen the original or read the book. I enjoyed this film, but it also didn't scare me at all. The story was solid, even though at times a little drawn out. The acting was decent. The dude that played the clown was good, and the atmosphere is what made the movie. Some mature themes resonate. I give it a solid 7/10.

Threat Matrix matrix: no boobs were seen or harmed in either movie.

Game over man - on Netflix and stars the three guys from that office comedy on Comedy Central. I think it’s called workaholics.

They are hotel waiters/cleaning staff when terrorist take over the hotel to force a billionaire to give them money. They then go all die hard on it “comedically”.

Lots of killing in what is supposed to be funny ways. Fake blood a plenty. Lots of dick jokes and gay jokes. To much male genitalia.

Skip this movie. The jokes just aren’t funny and it’s not very good. 2/10.

Movie’s terrible. I still watched the whole thing. Funny in a ridiculous way.

Thor: Ragnarok - by far the worst Marvel movie yet.
Attempts at humor sux, when has Hulk ever talked that much, story line was just meh. - 2/10

Black Panther - one of the best Marvel movies so far
Danai Gurira does a great job, story line was solid, shoot locations were well chosen - 8.25/10

Murder on the Orient Express - ok, I guess
Story line wasn't moving fast enough to keep me from turning it off & going to sleep. Shutter down not long after dude was deep sixed. I dunno, maybe I checked out before it got guud. - 3/10

Justice League - Average Super Hero movie
Why does the superhero that's raised from the dead always wake up evil and has to be "brought back" by his "girl"? Yeah, I can't figure that out either. Really you could say that Kal-El beat Steppanwolf by himself, as the others didn't seem to affect him at all. A good watch - 7/10

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle - toss up between this & Black Panther as to which I liked more.
Lots of laughs to be had by all, kids will like it too. I think it was shot mostly in Hawaii, so great location visuals. - 8.25/10

Locked up (Netflix) - not at all what I was expecting. An American girl lives with her wealthy father in Southeast Asia. She picked on daily at school and beaten up. One day she fights back and is arrested. She is sentenced to an all girls boarding school/prison. Needless to say the guards are horrible people. She has to learn to fight to survive.

This is not the best movie at about a 4/10. The acting is subpar.

For this interested it is nude city. Everything is shown multiple times in this movie, which can be a little creepy considering the ages they are playing. There’s a lesbian scene fit for a Cinemax movie. There is also a gang rape scene that is a little uncomfortable and the actress (bless her heart) didn’t act the way you would think someone being raped would act.

However the boobs are not harmed to bad. Just punched a few times. The snatch was defiled once and cheered up a few minutes later

A couple I saw over the last week

Shimmer Lake - on Netflix and about a small town bank robbery told in reverse to reveal everything. Has people you recognize and is ok. 5/10

Batman: Gotham by Gaslight - an animated movie about Batman taking place during the time of Jack the Ripper. Violent like their other animated films and not for small children. Not their best of these films. 5/10. It’s interesting how they change everything in the universe

The Florida Project - had great expectations for this and wow was it horrible. Should have known better when it was such a critical darling. Felt like they strapped a go pro on a kid and said go play. It’s about a kid with a crappy mom that lives in those dirtbag morels down by Disney. The mom is a horrible person and the kid reflects that. As a parent it drove me crazy. The most interesting character is Willam Defoe who plays the manager and actually cares about the kids there. If they had made a movie about him trying to run the hotel it would have been more interesting. 2/10. You will want to beat your head against a wall.

By all means still watch if you like, as we all have different tastes. I don't know why but both me and my wife were really excited and 30 minutes in looked at each other and said it was horrible. We finished though just because we needed to see the end. To me Dafoe trying to run a motel full of crazies was the more interesting part.

We saw Avengers last night. It lived up to the hype. Every hero had his/her moment in a film that had about 20 of them, and Thanos was an absolutely epic and terrifying villain. Won't spoil anything, but they left it on one hell of a cliffhanger for Part 2 next year.

Saw it today and it was great. I think which direction they go in part two could affect how I feel about it more, but one heck of a cliffhanger. Thanos was a great fleshed out villain and at over 2.5 hours went so fast it only felt like an hour. Just some advice there is one end credit scene and you have to stay till the very end to see it and the movie has a few other surprises. You could here a pin drop when everybody left.

This movie will crush it at the box office. Marvel just crushes DC at presenting characters and storylines.

I dont know what to think about a guy who dislikes Thor and liked Justice League. Drank too much rubbing alcohol as a kid. You couldnt pay me enough to watch another DC piece of crap.

BTW re Infinity War, did anyone think Thanos should have gone all out Al Gore Green Crusader? Of course, then Thanos would have allowed populations to buy credits instead of dying. Seems complicated.

I also found myself anticipating the Isildur cutting off The One Gauntlet. Oh well, next movie, rewind time, and everything is hunky dory.

Or maybe have Superman fly around the planet fast enough to make the earth rewind in time.

:mac:

Was able to get out to the theater Friday night and see Avengers: Infinity War. Thought it was great & really enjoyed it. It was much better than the previously mentioned Justice League, and put the series back on track (for me). I thought there would be much more attrition, but there's still a part 2 to come, so we'll see.

I prefer the Marvel films over the DC's counterparts, but didn't like what they did in the last Thor movie, don't really like the Guardians of the Galaxy story line, and think they've tried to insert too much, missed placed comedy into the dialogue. When I choose to watch an action movie, I don't mind some humor, but don't try to turn it into an action comedy. That's what I expect to see in a Dwayne Johnson/Kevin Hart movie.

I give this movie a 9.25/10 - well worth the money to see more than once in the theater.

Saying Ragnarok was the worst MCU movie by far is a pretty bad take considering the first two Thors, Iron Man 2 & 3, the first Captain America, and Incredible Hulk are all in that group.

I'll give you the first Hulk movie (2003), but the one with Ed Norton Jr. was better. That was by far the worst MCU movie, so bad that I had put it out of my memory. It's like The Dukes of Hazzard movie, totally ruined it.

all the same, you have your opinion, I have mine. :)

Your opinion is bad, like your opinion on digital vs. analog. :loser:
