I was happy when we won in basketball, mostly bc football was dominating. I dont give a shyt about the other sports.
We arent going to get in an arms race.
Actually Foley was the one who started the arms race in basketball with UF's innovative basketball practice facility. Atleast Foley made you happy with our basketball national championships that people said could not be done at UF. Are you happy that UF is now nationally recognized in the revenue sport of basketball?

Were you happy with the three three football national championships during Foley's administration? Were you happy when the baseball coach Foley hired won our first national championship in baseball?

Maybe you are not as grumpy as people think.

Let's focus on the last 20 years. Foley ran Spurrier off (fsu Darnell Docket incident) had the Meyer hire jammed down his throat by the UF president Machen. Then went on a tear of crap decisions with Zook, chimp and MacTard. I salute all the things he did up to that point, but damn. If you're that smart and have that much experience, then WTF are you doing taking chances on no-experience coaches to learn on the job. This is the biggest hire you are going to make. Don't fuk it up.

Give it a rest dude. The worst thing your boy Foley ever did was hire that 31 year old Marshall BBall coach with 2 whole years of head coaching experience and no significant accomplishments. That worked out better than anyone could have ever imagined. The ticket taker basically caught lighting in a bottle in an insignificant sport and then let his ego tell him he could do the same in the sport that pays all the bills. He failed spectacularly. Now we're facing another decade of digging out and I for one take no solace in a couple of basketball championships from 10+ years ago.

You are fvkking dense.

No, what Fooley did was promise Billy D an upgraded basketball facility to replace that joke of a tent we called the O Dome, and he failed to honor his word until after Billy finally left.

Yeah, Im not that grumpy. I chuckle at your fool ass constantly.

Fewer Gator fans being admitted is another.
There's no question this is a factor. UF is rejecting anyone who may come to the games, and it's been going on for years.

Wouldn't surprise me if Florida adds Sumo wrestling and Cobra handling as official sports in the future to meet student demand.

The days of packed in, drunk, insane students at UF football games, regardless of how good the team is, are over. Forever. They should cut that section in half and sell the tickets to people that want to be there.

Not sure how completely serious you are with your whole post, but... I’ll go all in and say I agree completely. The percentage of students that aren’t football fans and simply don’t care is at an all time high. Direct correlation to admissions.
I used to be amazed when kids in my dorm would say they weren’t going to a game; I’d be like WTF is wrong with you? Now I’m pretty sure if you do go to a game they’ll be like WTF is wrong with you.

We talk about this subject like we're alone in our admissions evolution.

That's missing the point almost entirely.

College football -- no, not just UF attendance but the whole damn country -- just experienced its largest attendance drop in 34 years. Rising ticket prices, accessibility of games on TV and a societal shift among millennials are the reasons most often cited for it.

Sorry, guys, but Asians, Hispanics, African Americans and GPA are at the fringe of the discussion.

What is most relevant to attendance is students not admitted that were raised on Gator football not getting in UF (regardless of their race the legacy students often were raised by parent's who often followed UF football).

The more books only students who could care less about football that are admitted will affect attendance, as will sucking on the field and new technology which makes it more convenient to not go to the game.

You are in donkey denial again. Donovan was very open for years that he wanted to coach in the pros. If he went to a college program with newer facilities you would be right but he did not. He went pro where he could focus on basketball alone and not recruiting as he had been discussing for years.

You must think we didn't win those 2 national championships in basketball after we added our innovative practice facility and that Donovan did not know the Occonnell center would have a major renovation which it did. I guess ignorance is bliss.

Wrong. Posting while high is hazardous for your logic. ALL ADs make bad hires. Foley made bad hires on Mac and Muschamp but not on Meyer who brought UF two very hard to get national championships. Not many ADS in history have 3 national championships in football while under their watch.

All of UF's national championships and all but one SEC championships in football were under Foley's watch. We never had any national championships in football before Foley. He wasn't perfect but over all accomplished more than the overwhelming majority of ADs in FOOTBALL.

Outside of football he dominated the majority of ADS also. Foley winning awards for national AD of the year is not failure.

Seriously, dude, get over yourself with the constant fact twisting. Foley didn't have a thing to do with hiring Spurrier. Meyer was Machen's initiative.

But he's got distant blind relatives who hunt in trees.

Speaking of twisting where did I say he hired Spurrier. Did not. I said the 3 UF national championships were under Foley's watch. Foley had to work with those coaches to achieve that goal. Spurrier had been working with Foley for 5 years when UF won its first national championship in football.

You love to put words in people's mouth. Failed again.

I said he hired Meyer not Spurrier. Dooley who forgot more about UF football than you know said Foley was very key in hiring Meyer. It is not uncommon for BOTH Presidents and ADS to work on the hiring of a good football coach.

You just provided a prime example of what I'm saying. Except you're too slow to realize it.

You gave Foley credit for three football championships. Duh.
He was the boss and we won. When you are the boss you get credit for the good and bad of those under your supervision. Foley had been supervising Spurrier for 5 years when we won our first football national championship. You can't have it both ways 78. You will credit it to him when the coaches he supervises fail but not when they succeed. That is unfair and unobjective.

Still waiting for where I said Foley hired Spurrier. Waiting...... You sure are slow.
