Forgot this. Mullen took a Mississippi State team that was 18-30 the prior 4 years, with 1 bowl game, and in 2 years brought them to 9-4, including wins over Florida(Meyer head UF coach) and Michigan.

Does anyone know much about the talent on Mullen's year 2 MSU team?

You think we can get all the other teams to hire Daztard?

Yeah, Mullinz eight year resume can pretty much be summarized with two wins, one in 2009 and one in 2012. And about 40 blowout losses.

You told Stricklin we should have hired Saban over Mullen. Saban was ready to have people complain about him at UF as he started from scratch.

Mullen's years at UF where he got two national championship rings as an OC don't count only his losses at a smaller school where he did a major turnaround in the toughest division in college football. His getting that small school to number one in the polls for the first time in its history does not count either only the losses. Right donkey?

Small school? Also I did not know HC's play against one another. Be that as it may, that was one helluva UF squad that MSU beat in Creyer's last year. Would not put much stock into that by calling it a big win. And lastly, for anyone who thinks that Cowbell has never had any talent, they are sorely mistaken.

The UF players were definitely higher ranked recruits.

Eventhough they are among the smallest schools in the SEC , Mississippi schools would have talent from time to time. Of course after getting that talent they then go on probation like Ole Miss just did. Mullen avoided the probation thing so far.

Look Mullen either wins 10 games this fall or is the wrong hire. It is true he might win 10 games this year and still be the wrong hire.

MSU has half the students of UF and is not the flagship university in a much smaller state
Finally, MSU has indeed had talent, but it mostly came from 3* talent that you are apoplectic about. Do I think CDM is the answer? No, but stick to the facts.

Donkey will complain if we don't get a national championship in year one. He has been so supportive he is owed a national championship.

Good for Kelly. Talk is cheap. If he wins on the field, great. If he doesn't win on the field any talk now would just be hot air.
With social media now a days you have to constantly stay in touch with SEC recruits. Probably more laid back recruiting in the West although recruiting against the excellent recruiters at USC can't be easy.

From what I read in the article it was a reporter whining that Kelly had not done enough interviews.

As far as recruits go, if you win, you get more players. If you don't you get fewer players. You NEVER get enough players for the Star Gazers in any program.

It amazes me how many UF fans forget what it was like to support a consistent winner and now think all sorts of extraneous things affect recruiting. Win, get players drafted and have an attractive depth chart and you will have no shortage of players at any program in a power 5 conference. Heck if you win with the terrible offenses currently in the SEC, you still get talented offensive skill players.

Agree winning really helps but you also have to be aggressive in recruiting in the SEC.

Mac won in his first season but he was not an aggressive recruiter and his recruiting classes showed it.Top Florida recruits would say they have not heard from Mac yet but speak to Meyer all the time.

The SEC gets the best recruits because it is relentless. The Pacific 10 may be easier and UCLA having that brand new 65 million dollar football center can help Kelly recruit. UF won't get our 65 million dollar football center for 3 years so our new coach has to really hustle out there on the recruiting scene.

Just remember that Bama knows that Meyer and Mullen's system gave Bama all they wanted when Meyer/ Mullen was at UF and UF is located closer to the top talent than Bama is.

The Bama media will do everything they can to put down sleeping giant UF. Bama lover Finebaum used to totally pound on Meyer in the media when he was at UF. Why? Because we could beat Bama on the field and in recruiting till Meyer burned out after Mullen left UF.

Meh...Meyer's coaching staff fell apart after 2008 and the 2009 season was saved by Tebow and talent alone; Daz was granted to OC position, with no one to coach the O line. That was the beginning of the end. In 2010, Meyer was a headcase wondering around on the sideline; the program was a total disaster at that point.
Then comes Chimp with the idea of running a "pro style" offence and winning with TOP and defence, all the while neglecting the O line.
You don't have to be a football genius to see the sequence of events that led to where we are now.

Kelly gets a brand new 75,000 square foot football center right away at UCLA. Mullen has to wait 3 years for his 130,000 square foot football center so Mullen has to sell to to recruits that they can play in the UF football center when 2019 recruits are juniors.

Mullen was at MSU 2009. That started wearing on Meyer. Daz was not in Mullen's league as an OC.
