So, US didn't qualify which drops a lot of interest from the US market right out the window. But there are plenty who still watch with a love of the sport.

It appears FOX and FS1 will be carrying the English commentators for games. Full schedule here. First game is Russia vs Saudi Arabia tomorrow at 11AM.

Looking at who is in, the favorites are the usuals: Germany, Brazil, Spain, Argentina, and France...with Belgium and Protugal having a second tier chance.

To me, I don't see a 'Group of Death' anywhere, and the brackets overall feel weaker than usual. Anyone you are interested in watching or pulling for in this event?

Drive by naysayers (DONK!) need not apply. If this doesn't interest you, just stay out.

No USA, Italy or Netherlands is crazy.

I'm thinking this might be Argentina's year.

Fox is going to take it in the rear without the US qualifying.

I will be following closely. With the time differential watching will be difficult which sucks. I love the World Cup. A lot of groups are top heavy with a clear favorite, but the battle for 2nd place will be really good. Group A might be the weakest group in world cup history. Argentina and Belgium will choke like they normally do. An African team will make the round of 16. France, Germany, Spain, Brazil...the usual suspects.

Odd smattering of teams. I absolutely love the World Cup, but I won't be following quite as closely without the good guys being in it this year. Still can't believe how badly they flopped on that one.

I'll probably DVR nearly all the games and watch the fun ones. I see the bracket winners being:

GROUP A
1 - Uraguay
2 - Russia
Saudi Arabia
Egypt

GROUP B
1 - Portugal
2 - Spain
Morocco
Iran

GROUP C
1 - France
2 - Denmark
Australia
Peru

GROUP D
1 - Argentina
2 - Nigeria << Always fun to watch, so free flowing but undependable. May get nudged out by Croatia.
Iceland
Croatia

GROUP E
1 - Brazil
2 - Switzerland
Costa Rica
Serbia

GROUP F
1 - Germany
2 - Mexico << May fall behind Sweden.
Sweden
Korea

GROUP G
1 - Belgium
2 - England
Panama
Tunisia

GROUP H
1 - Columbia
2 - Japan
Senegal
Poland

I typically love world cup soccer since the US is always there. This time I couldn't be less interested.

I’d put Spain as a second tier team given their coaching change. That’s never good going into a major event.

Going to be weird with Italy or the Netherlands. I’ll probably watch some matches as world class soccer is always fun.

There really are no strong teams this year: Spain and Germany are getting old. The Fightin' Ronaldos and Team Messi don't have a lot of support around their stars.

Brazil may be the team to beat, but even they are not top flight. Keep an eye on Belgium.

Gonna be a weird Cup this year.

I can't see Russia making it to the round of 16. If Salah is healthy for Egypt they will advance. Watch for Peru and Poland to advance. Mexico has a hard group.

All the "soccer flop" **** talk is old news. The dramatic flailing was an unfortunate trend that peaked 2 World Cup cycles ago.

Does it still happen? YES... Mostly by teams who play a specific style and/or speak Spanish.

Do US soccer haters still feel the need to post memes and comparisons to traditional 'Merican sports? YES... Mostly by dudes who are sports experts because they played JV Football in Jr. High or they currently DOMINATE thier local Rec. Softball League.
