You have to be an idiot to think that Butters fate was determined by the credit card suspensions. he'll Davis was better than Scarlett and wouldn't even have been on the field had Scarlet not been suspended. Our great coaches assessed him as the 5th best on the team and had him destined for a redshirt. The passing game was terrible not because of the lack of one 5 touchdown per year wide receiver. The problem was the offensive line looking like a pathetic West Texas OL for the third year and the quarterback being told to throw nothing but screen passes and crossing patterns in an almost 100% predictable manner.

Of course some people somehow saw Improvement every year and expected an offensive explosion because Pat Drooley told them so.

I think Jordan Smith’s absence was the most noticeable. We needed more 225lb, mid level Defensive Ends and they just don’t grow on trees.

The other young ones may not have started. But they could’ve played STs under Nord and gained invaluable lessons on overrunning plays and blocking in the back.

And you have to wonder if Telfort had simply financed his own strict regimen of pizza, soda, Funyuns, and sour gummy worms, rather than racking up 30+ felony charges by stealing someone’s credit identity to avoid paying the $89 and having it delivered to him, was he burgeoning into the next star O-Lineman. The commitment, work ethic and smarts demonstrated just scream yes.

Call me crazy, but the Byrd is starting to win me over.

So the credit card suspensions caused the S&C program to be nonexistent, caused the insistence on running straight up the gut on every 2nd down, caused the special teams to appear to have never been on the field together, caused the worst 4 years of recruiting since recruiting rankings existed and caused the offensive line to be turnstiles?

Damn those credit cards.

Byrd is an embarrassment because he's such a blind homer he'll even defend Butters. It's nauseating.
Just fair Ox. I am glad Mac is gone as he was a lazy recruiter and not good at developing players. However, if you asked any objective person if losing three key upperclassmen would make a difference in the close games they would tell you yes.

Agree those are failures. That is why we would have lost the blow out games because of those failures. However in the close game the loss of those key upperclassmen players likely would have made a difference.

Perhaps with a competent coaching staff that's true. In our case it was not.

He was SEC coach of the year when he had more talent.

Where we disagree is on the close games. Losing 4th round draft pick Callaway, 6th round Harris and high rated Scarlett (rated #6 RB in 2019 draft) could have easily made a difference in the close games. Let alone having a young athletic LB( versus a slow walk on LB) and a 4 star OT who could have provided depth.

I'm getting closer and closer to sending you back to Swamp Gas permanently. There is NOTHING to defend when it comes to the Butters regime.

You need to let it sink in that just because someone wore the orange & blue that they don't have to be defended at all costs. You continually cross the line from fan into cultist.

:lmao2: :lmao2: :lmao2:

He was at best a 4 BLOWOUT loss piece of shyt who was 4 lucky games from being 4 wins, at best. In his best year he was just plain fvkking lucky to beat a terrible FAU team.

Total piece of shyt.

And anyone who watched how terrible he was as OC at trailerbammer, despite hystoric levels of talent, should have known what he was from the second his name was mentioned.

What good would it have been having Callaway when you you were dealing with a QB who waited until the receiver was double covered before releasing the ball?

This is 2222. No doubt.
Honestly, I'm not sure if even 2222 was this bad.

I'll bet back when Hornsby stole that dead girl's credit card, byrd claimed he was just using it to donate the funds to her favorite charity.

He called 2 national championship games at Bama and was offered a head coach job.
