Time has come for U.F. to change its rules and give one of the Greatest Gator that ever lived a Statue in front of the Stadium.
What he has done in football is unmatched by any Gator and to give him a statue would go far in creating some racial diversity for all fans and recruits to see when they visit the Stadium.

I stated this many times, I also hate how the three Heisman statues are displayed. Does Tebow even have a number on his back or did Foley save a few thousand by leaving it off and putting them against a wall?
I'm surprised I get very little support here when I bring it up.

He has a number on his jersey. I personally have no beef with the statues nor with the criteria for earning one. Maybe Emmitt should have stayed for his senior year.

So did Emmit need to win the Heisman or just return for his senior year. Even SOS said he did the right thing by turning pro. Sometimes it's not black and white you just do it, or is it, I know people don't want to hear that but it is the perception that is festering with UF. Meanwhile in tallycrappy.

Emmitt has his name in the ROH. It’s not like he’s been ignored. If they want to change the criteria, that’s fine, too.

Why the f*ck does everything have to be about race? My God. We have 3 statues. They all won the Heisman. They all happen to be white. It’s not like we have other white, non-Heisman winning, statues.

Ox, I believe we’re around the same age. So I know what Emmitt meant to you as a young Gator, because I lived it as well. But stuff like the picture above tarnish things significantly, and I’m pretty sure that there was a big UF weekend going on when it was taken. There are ways of supporting your son without doing this, and it’s not the first slight of UF either.

Statues are enduring. Therefore I think they should be reserved for those those that have proven to be enduring Gators. Like it or not, based on past and present actions, ES does not fit that criteria, IMO.

If you're going off what he's accomplished on the field, he definitely deserves a statue. But that picture with Kirby in a Georgia hat should get him excommunicated from Gator Nation. They already have giant pictures of every year up in the West Side near the statues. Emmitt is featured in that year's picture. If you accomplish something great on the field at UF you should get more than the giant pictures. But let's reserve the statues for players that win a Heisman. Maybe they should put up individual players pictures and stats on the some section of the inside of the stadium.

Obviously win a Heisman, which could have only been possible if he came back for his senior season.

While I think of all Gators as my "family" my real genetic family comes first. Who knows why or how that picture was taken, his son did not choose UF, that is unfortunate. Perhaps we need some other ways to honor those who made significant contributions at positions that don't win a major award. I bet we could think of a few that statutes would be appropriate. I always wanted a bball set of statues for the 04s playing on a small court outside the odome.

Or a video board like they use for billboards today, that way we could honor a number of individuals.
