Showing up only for the big games is nothing very novel. Perhaps it has more to do with personal interest or, better still, a desire to get in front of the camera. I think you'd know by more than innuendo if Emmitt was hacked off with UF.

This is just a guess, but maybe he was asked to do a lot of a$$ kissing while he was here and now thinks he is bigger than UF and expect his a$$ to be kissed and we have moved on.

You aren't usually this naive.

I apologize in advance for seeming argumentative, but I know that's not the case. I set out to interview him after the FSU loss in '87, his freshman season. I found him in the players tunnel beneath the stands surrounded by a throng of Team Emmitt members. It was bordering on an entourage. For a freaking freshman.

This was a confident young man who knew exactly who he was and where he was going. Extreme poise for an 18-year-old kid.

I followed Emmitts high school career the only way you could in the early 80's the newspaper and you know yourself there was plenty.
I went to fan day his freshman year and while the fans were lined up the entire length of the field my sister's included to see Kerwin, Emmitt was on the 30 yard line without a person around, it had to be a little humbling I'm sure.

he's a bit petulant?

pet·u·lant
ˈpeCHələnt/
adjective
  1. (of a person or their manner) childishly sulky or bad-tempered.
    "he was moody and petulant"
Well, **** I dont want some childish bad tempered fck of a statue by my stadium. That is NOT the kind of example we
won't for our minor glory-oriities.
"I think Spurrier is much happier without me, because now he's in a situation where he can do whatever he wants to do without trying to satisfy me or satisfy anyone else.

''So much attention was focused on me when I was there. If I were there, people would probably be getting on his back about why Emmitt isn't carrying the ball as much as he used to. Now he's in a situation where he can do whatever he wants to do.''
Emmitt was always mature WAY beyond his years and like all of the GREAT ones focused on becoming the best not only football wise by life wise........

Good Lord. If I was rolling my eyes any harder they would pop out of my head.

Emmitt is holding some kind of grudge against UF. It may be small or it may be large, but it's there. Evidence overwhelmingly supports that. Sorry if it upsets you personally for some reason. I promise you it doesn't take away from any accomplishments he had on the field.

See, that's what I don't understand; some panties have gotten so wadded up over this it's as though everyone on here has said that Emmitt sucked as player and his accomplishments were trivial at best and he's worthy of no recognition, when in fact that couldn't be further from the truth.

Bingo. Did I mention Emmitt has his name in the ROH inside the Swamp?

Link? Sucked as a player? Trivial? No recognition?

Stay with me here, Donk. What I'm saying is, during all this friendly banter, some in this thread have the perception that Emmitt is under attack, and other than his unfortunate choice to wear Dwag shyt I do not believe that to be the case. No-one has said he sucked, or that he was a trivial player, or that he shouldn't be recognized, but damn, you'd think we've disavowed him as a Gator when really we just disagree with the original premise.

Nothing to do with Spurrier, more to do with the aftermath of the frat incident. That is what I remember hearing and also was mentioned multiple times by him in interviews about his changed perception of things.
