I agree, but what if EJ gets hurt? We need depth and if CS is a pleasant surprise, EJ has time to develop.
Jaylin Jackson and/or Kadarius.

We have options.

How viable are they? Toney is currently working exclusively (that we know) at WR.

And we’re not pushing the scholarship limit, so I say grab him if he looks better than Franks and/or Trask.

Lets just play EJ and find out.

I agree with this....but I also remember the same was said about Franks (because nobody wanted to see Del Rio anymore). I hope EJ is the real deal, but I'm cautiously eager to see him win the job.

I really worry about starting Franks....

Well, Toney is listed as "athlete". Read that however you will.

They are more viable than non-running QBs and two guys who are under 50% in spring game against walkons.

Its not really up to me re this old man QB. Im just reading the tea leaves.

I just can't get my head around why we're not trying to use Toney like he used Fitzgerald?

The backup QB is often the most popular player in the team. I’d like us to get Sandberg because we need another QB, he’s athletic and mature. With all the doubts about Franks, it’s wise to have plenty of arms in case Franks gets hurt or flops (as many expect.)

For the guys that are into stats:

Senior Year:

186/265: 70% completion rate
Pass yards/game:191.0 yards/game
Rush yards/game: 43.6 yards/game
99 carries for 611 rushing yards: 6.2 yards/carry
35 pass TD's: 1 INT
10 rushing TD's

Total High School Career:

579/795 attempts: 73% completion rate
Pass yards/game: 167 yards/game
Total passing yards: 7848 yards
Total rushing yards: 2065 yards
80 pass TD's: 11 INT's
32 rushing TD's

I think he deserves a chance as a preferred walk-on.

That’s pretty damn good. There’s a direct correlation from high school stats to college production regarding completion percentage and interception ratio.

Seeing his stats cause me to worry somebody else will get him. Compare Chris Weinke's path. Path to a National Championship & a Heisman. He wasted time (6 years) in minor league baseball. Were his high school stats as good as Cord's ?
