Spurrier: This team can certainly compete with Georgia for the Eastern division

Spurrier is just talking as a fan there imo. I like the S&C change but that alone won't be enough until recruiting improves and we finally have a competent QB. I think anything better than 8-4 even with our favorable schedule would take us catching a lot of breaks in turnovers etc.

Yes, we could. If OBC was corching. The old OBC, not the tired one who lets someone else call the plays.

He is right though, right? The east is fvkking TERRIBLE top to bottom. Even Ugly was 1-2 in games that mattered and they are still bringing back the coach that was 1-1 vs McElstain despite inheriting a much better team that was loaded at RB and QB.

We SHOULD be better than that SEC East garbage, right? Even if we cant play w Bammer or Clowntown yet.

I think we’re going to be ok on offense. And pretty good if we can find a QB.

Problem is, I think we’re going to be absolutely scorched on defense. Particularly up the gut.

Maybe. I dont like our LBs but our DL will be stout barring any injuries. Those three freshman DTs were A LOT better than the guys they replace, even the Wyoming Wildman, IMO (who often lost form and got high).

If you look at any of the old tape, TJ Slaton and Eli Conliffe were collapsing guys even with double teams. There is probably nothing that excites me more this year than seeing their progress.

And they have more help coming with Campbell and Marlon Dunlap too. Khairi Clark who is functional too. We wont be seeing any 240lb LB/DE hybrids forced to play DT this year.

The DL is really solid. What I’m worried about is if anybody gets into the second level. I’m not sure we have any linebackers or safeties That can tackle

I thought he was talking about his Orlando team in the new league beating UGA...they might have a chance. We don't.

SOS weighs in..........statue and all...........and he is the old spurrier just giving us some offseason fluff...........I remember well when he was coaching. If he thought they were gonna be good he said it. But this is the old tired SOS. Just the man behind the curtain. Pay him no mind........

I'm putting full faith and credit in SOS' statements re: Georgia. No one kicks Dwagg azz like SOS kicks Dwag azz.

He is a fan, but I dare say he is a more knowledgeable fans than some maybe many here. I suspect he looks at the roster and says UF has players. Spurrier was never one to worry too much about stars and seemed to care more if a guy could play. He also knows he could coach up one of these QBs to be highly productive. What remains is for Mullen to do what Spurrier thinks he could do.

David Reese is fine at MLB. I do worry what's around him though. We have a lot of bodies there, including the suspended freshman from last year. Two other injured LB's return (K. Johnson and Nick Smith). Plus Law's favorite 2-star, Rayshad Jackson!! :D I'm sure we'll find some serviceable players there.

You really went out on a limb there.

I don't want to hurt any more feelings here today. I hit my quota for today. Apparently many people here think they are more knowledgeable than any about football and are very sensitive.

Hell we might as well give up now. At least wait till we lose a few in a row before we throw in the towel.

Give up? Spurrier's view seems to support my view that a good coach should win 10 games at least against this schedule with this roster.

If you think Steve is ever going to say or think we can't compete with the Leg Humpers, think again. He's not wired that way.
