Trust me, Donkey has made his point so many times he's dug a hole to China. Maybe it's time we see if Mullen has a counter in him. After all, he's still unbeaten as head football coach at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Alachua County, Florida, United States, North America, Earth, Solar System.

That's UFGLACFLUSNAESS to Insti.

You forgot Milky Way betweeh Earth and Solar System... Insti is gong to have your hide

Crete and Deuce both have it right. Nothing wrong with wanting to harbor hope -- it's human nature -- but make no mistake. Danny Boy's on the clock. And I'm quite confident he knows it better than anyone else.

I hope so. Maybe the right asst coach hires can fix some of this.
That's one area where the last two guys, esp the last one, failed miserably. Too much blind loyalty.

Milky Way is the galaxy we are in, which is much larger than the Solar System, so wouldn't it come after? ;)

Seriously though, our football team needs some help. Where is it going to come from? I'd like to say that help comes in the form of competent S&C, coaching, that the team didn't have before. If that's enough to make a significant improvement, then great. Let's hope so.

I sure do miss the feeling of being nervous, anxious and excited before every game....hell any game at this point.

This season is NOT a throwaway season in my book. Now I'm not expecting any titles but I want to see guys that look like they are being coached, much improvement in execution(offense)…..and for the love of God we better not get walked out of the stadium by ANYONE in our division like Mizzou or USCe...unacceptable.

Doesn't have to land a half dozen 5 stars but he's better damned well win over a bunch of in state 4 stars and get at least 2 "difference maker" type players

Good post all the way around, but these three points are exactly my thoughts, especially the first.

It is a lot cheaper to pay, even over pay, for some elite assts than to hire yet another new corch.

Dan's here so I'll wait before I crucify him but he is on the clock. This season is NOT a throwaway season in my book. Looking better, at least like we practiced some, is reasonable. Howver, THIS season, we have a roster designed by the last two Bammer morons to bash the middle and throw screens. We cant expect too much.

We do desperately need to see elite recruiting again immediately and if not corrective action asap vis a vis the weaklings on the staff.

I said earlier in this thread that imo Mullen won't make it here without his next 2 classes being Top 5-10 and they will have to contain a few legitimate superstar quality players....I don't think his system will bring superior results without that type of player on offense....but I could be wrong.
This season will have it's struggles due to overall talent fall off of the last 3 years. It is what it is at this point. What I don't want to see is a bunch of quitting because the players have no confidence in their coaches....2013,2014, and last year was full of that nonsense and I think that goes back to the practice field...When players see what they do in practice work on the field their confidence soars....when they continuously see play after play fail they quit....

Last 3 years those boys have had an absentee-HC. That's bound to generate defeatist spirit - playing the games just watching for your opposing team to show you why they're better.?? None of that with Mullen. None but a McSlain type non-coach can breed that fail. Mac was/is possibly the only HC toxic in that way - amazing fraud.

As I've noted on numerous occasions, I wasn't thrilled by the DM hire, but wallowing in misery gets to be a bore in rather short order. Besides, the shots that are being taken by the more dyspeptic posters on this board are largely based on "opinion," pure speculation, or one-sided analysis that cherry picks the worst "facts" surrounding DM's performance to date, while completely dismissing any positives out of hand. The assertion that DM has "bungled" recruiting totally ignores the considerable talent that has already arrived on campus. It also presupposes the abject failure of the upcoming class, five months before the early signing period and seven months before the final signing period in February.

Is there cause for some reasonable degree of concern? Yeah, I think so. The program hasn't been this low since Doug the Slug turned over a huge mess to Pell in 1979. Additionally, unlike some others, I think this season is very important for a variety of reasons. We must show vastly improved team cohesion and physical conditioning. We must also look like a well-coached, SEC caliber FB team - something that hasn't happened in years. If we fail in that, we're looking at more of the same garbage we've endured for the last 8 years. Lastly, the days when UF could count on top-tier recruits to fall all over themselves to become Gators are, at least for now, over. People talk about realistic and unrealistic expectations. In the modern era, if you don't win - you can't recruit. How anyone can have failed to grasp the truth of that axiom, in light of the recent unpleasantness, is beyond me. End of rant.

This is a Miss St fans take from tigerdroppings on Mullens tenure here

have posted this several times
and here goes one more time:

Mullen did a great job at State, his recruiting was underrated and he improved the program tremendously between 2008 and 2017. I appreciate what he did.
At Florida, he will be successful but it will not be overnight. Judging by some of the UF posters on here, he will be gone before he gets to enjoy the fruits of his work. Why you ask? His offense is very difficult to master and it will take several years of development for it to reach its potential. If the Gator Nation is patient then look out down the road.

Below is my prediction provided UF is patient enough to allow the football program to develop:

2018: 5-7 maybe 6-6 with an outside shot at 7-5. (Struggle mightily)

2019: 6-6 maybe 7-5 (struggle but improving)

2020: 7-5 maybe 8-4 (continued improvement)

2021: 8-4 maybe 9-3 (corner is turned)

2022: 9-3 or better (rolling)

2023 and beyond , a power house and look out SEC and nation.

So, Omar, if it works out that way, are you (personally) patient enough to wait until the upside arrives?

2023? This represents a MSU fan's expectation, not a Gator's.

If those are the first three years... We are coach shopping by the end of 2020.
