First, Serena's coach attempted to coach her and they (her) received warning. Shortly thereafter Serena smashed her racket and received a warning and lost a point. Then called the umpire a thief, received a third warning and lost a game. Then Osaka served out and won the championship.

I may get raked over the coals for this, but she is and has always been a bad seed. Venus is ok. Serena is a total phony.

There's college football going on and you're watching that garbage?

That was CRAZY. I might be in the minority in thinking this, but I feel horrible for both Osaka and Serena. The judge had no business interjecting his ego into the game to that degree. If he is gonna dock Serena a full game in a Championship game for calling him a “thief”, I can’t imagine what he would have done to McEnroe if he berated him. Did Serena overreact a bit? Sure. But, you have to swallow your pride a bit as an official. Osaka played a great match and may have won anyway, but I think he was overly sensitive in this situation.

No, no you don’t. You call the game as you see it in accordance with the rules. You’re not expected to yield anything, much less swallowing pride.
