This isn’t about tonight. It’s not about the Mullen hire, about which I had reservations, like many of you. Or Grantham who brought this pos defense to us. It’s more.

This is so much deeper. It predates Stricklin and certainly predates the recent hire. It’s what we’ve become. We stopped demanding the best back in 2010. The best from our coaches. The best from ourselves. The best from student athletes.

As fans, we’re done. We just are. Let’s call a spade a spade. We don’t show up. We aren’t loud. I don’t blame anyone. It’s been a horrific decade. But bottom line...we don’t show.

Let’s delve a little deeper into why...no offense to the younger crowd but playing a different rap song between every play and/or timeout isn’t part of UF culture. And to be frank, as much as some may hate hearing this, singing Tom ******* Petty after 3 isn't part of our culture either. It’s a momentary distraction that makes people feel good despite being down two scores. Nothing more. If anything, I’m not sure we’ve won a single game since we took on that new tradition.

To be clear, I don’t blame the fans. I think across the board, the notion that anything is ok has permeated the whole program, and started from the top down.

I grew up an hour away and attended games my whole life, plus 2-3 away games a season. It was an event that involved some stress, commitment and a desire to see the Gators win. And we loved it. I see none of that any more. We’re a weak mixed group of enablers who stopped caring, and sidewalk, t-shirt alums who only pretend to when the moment strikes.

I was there in the 80s when we were content to win 7 games and make a bowl appearance. I’m not sure we’re terribly drifted from that spot now.

We can blame Muschamp. We can blame McElwain. We can blame Foley and his stooge. But if we actually cared, instead of just shrugging our collective shoulders and assuming everything would be ok, it would’ve never reached this point. Now that we’re here, I’m not sure we ever come back. And that’s just being honest. My son will be 10 in January, and he’s never seen a good UF team, and probably won’t for the foreseeable future. At what point do you accept the trait for what it is and stop caring?

This isn’t about me and my feelings of frustration. This is about recognizing what we have ALL become and, against every grain of my body, giving up on something I care so much about.

Personally, I don’t see us recovering from this, largely because I’m not sure from the top down, truly we have the desire to any longer. I was fortunate enough to be a kid in the 90s when Spurrier was running things, and a young adult for the Meyer era. But as much as it pains me, and as much as I’d love to argue to the contrary, I feel like those days are gone for good and we are back to what we once were.

I was against Mullen being hired but I will give him a pass this year with all these soft players he got from Mac and of course Franks at QB. The one thing I won't excuse is if he pulls a 2nd recruiting class that is in the teens like Mac did.

More importantly, Im over it.

I tried a little to pretend I had some hope for Dan Fuggin Mullinz but we knew what he is.

I dont feel a bit different when I turned it off last year. (I never got to that point even under Zook or Chimp.) Probably will do the same. If the game is on, whatever. I may watch some, I may keep doing what Im doing.

There is no point pretending this is ever going to change until we get real commitment to winning.

Of course MY interest isnt important either, except that when it gets to the point that the last holdouts of us fanatics turn it off, the program is in huge trouble.

It is time to turn the shyt off.

Spot on. Starkville Mediocrity. Embrace it.

If we played UCF or USF right now, we would get skull ****ed.

I said tonight to my buddies at the game that that awful music between every single goddamn play was obnoxious and embarrassing. Anyone who thinks it actually adds to the atmosphere is nuts. I pay to go to a freaking football game not a goddamn dance party.

If I see one more goddamn football player dancing around when we're losing a game every time some bass comes on I'm gonna puke.

We are an elite academic school with a diverse student body, half from outside Florida, who give two shytes about winning football games. The fan passion has certainly wained. Today the north lawn was somber and boring. Our fans are not fanatics. Our student section is 70% filled and tepid most of the game. I suppose we are average and will continue to be so.

Still love my Gators though.

People who say that all we have to do is start winning and the students will show up are dead wrong. They just don 't give a crap about football. This bodes poorly on the long term future of Gator football almost as much as losing does. Students become alumni, alumni play a huge part in supporting and donating to football. If you don't have the emotional attachment to your school that football helps instill then the whole program starts to degrade into never ending mediocrity. We are well on our way now.

The stadium experience will never be the same as it was for us. It's just the new reality with very few exceptions, and almost all of those in some god-forsaken sh*thole of a town.

But that doesn't really matter. It's all about TV now, and the only way to win is to recruit the best players and have a coaching staff that can get the most out of them.

Mullen will never succeed because of the simple fact that he's a loser. He will almost certainly be fired in 3 years, and then we will have another chance to try again. Until then we'll beat the cupcakes, have a few decent wins, and a boatload of disheartening losses with our teams reflecting their leader.

I have had season tickets since 1976. Tonight I made the decision that this will be my last year buying season tickets. I can no longer justify spending my money and time on something that no longer brings me any pleasure. I wish to God it wasn't so but after what is going on a decade of futility and THE worst football I've ever witnessed I've had it.

Unbelievably sad. Getting beat is one thing, getting mauled is another. "We couldn't block anybody and we followed up by not tackling." It's not a perfect quote but didn't MacKay's team lose every game that year. We got to gainesville in 1989, I can't remember a time when the tackling was that bad.

Hells, bells, that Starkville team would have beaten us by 50 points. Mullen left all his "magic" there, it seems. However, magic won't save this bunch.

I don't like losing but I try not to act like my life is ending when we lose.

Everyone who said OL and QB are the problem were partially wrong, add in DL, LB's and safties......

Hell, just add the whole defense......
