What's up everyone...I had to step back after the loss Saturday so I could fully take in the loss and rewatch the game before I could put my 2 cents in.

Well....here we go!

1) this loss isn't on Stricklin or the staff! This is on the previous AD and his last garbage hire.

2) The rebuild is much bigger than I or anyone else originally thought. We have major talent issues across the board but mainly on the OL and on every damn level on defense. We thought the issues we've been having would be fixed by yr 2 with the coaching changes....well that isn't happening! This is a minimum of 3-4 yr rebuild job because we simply don't have the talent or depth.

3) The OL is a dumpster fire! We have severe talent issues on the offensive line and the depth behind them is atrocious. Other than Ivey we don't have one single blue chip talent in the starting lineup and Ivey is a BUST! He doesn't have it between the ears to play at an elite level and he has a ticker problem that cant be fixed. The lack of give a sh*t he plays with and effort he gives is unbelievable! As for the rest of the OL...These dudes are not top tier talent and it shows. However what makes that issue worse is they are also lazy/soft mentally and physically to boot! Because of the previous strength staff they get pushed and slung around like ragdolls. It seems like they aren't football smart because they continue to miss on their assignments for 3 going on 4 yrs now. That shows the lack of film room work they have put in and the lack of playbook study they have done. This is what infuriates me about the OL though...they simply refuse to put forth the effort to finish blocks on the rare occasion when they win coming off the line The lackadaisical approach they play with is really unbelievable and concerning! None of this isn't changing until we bring in new blood and they develop!

4) The young defensive tackles we have aren't ready to start but due to piss poor recruiting efforts by mac/rumph they have been thrown into the fire. Conliffe/Slaton have high ceilings but due to the previous garbage strength and conditioning program they aren't physically ready which is a huge problem!

5) DE...We have talent issues here as well because the two 5*s we have haven't lived up to their billing. Cece is an above average talent but he hasn't taken a snap this yr because of injuries and suspensions. Clayton is just a flat out bust! I expect him to transfer especially if what I'm hearing pans out. As for the rest of the DE's...they are 3*s who continue play reckless and continue to over run they're gaps in the backfield which allowed the UK QB to run all over us multiple times. We need an infusion of talent here desperately going forward before anything changes.

6) other than David reese (who's an above average player) our starters and key reserves are garbage! They lack top tier talent, are slow, refuse to play their gaps and can't tackle for sh*t! The Randy specials are killing this unit and until we get new blood in the system we're screwed!

7) other than Wilson (who we just lost for the yr) Hendo and Dean The secondary is also lacking elite talent and depth but this especially shows up at safety where most of the dudes we have are either injury prone or just not good enough to play at UF.

In other words...grab a seat because we're going to be mediocre for the next couple of yrs until we get the horses we need on campus to compete for championships again. Mullen has his work cut out for him because of Foley's incompetence on hiring the right guys to run the program. What mac did to our program will take time to overcome and we're just going to have to accept that until Mullen has time to fix it. I believe we have the right guy for the job! Go Gators!!!!

:pe: Well we are better than this. Can’t say I disagree, trying to make up for years of no conditioning, film study and coaching is not going to be pretty.

I was hoping we had enough heart to carry us through, but like last year, I am having trouble spotting any team leaders. Seems like Marco was working with rpthe younger guys on game 1, and now he’s out.

From the other thread/article...

Our last 5 star recruit was in 2015.. Georgia had 7 in the 2018 class alone.

Look at that alone and understand where our issues are.

You will see a team on the verge of being at the top again in year 3 if they are the real deal in coaching and recruiting. An 8-4 type team with a lot of issues still means you didn't hire the right person.

DE's definitely play reckless, getting upfield way too often in rush situations and the UK QB had time and room to do whatever he wanted Saturday night. I think Polite and Zuniga have a chance, but with a better roster and program overall when they came on board, they'd realistically be getting ready to play significantly next year most likely. It's also a shame that the young DT's are pressed into early service. It's hard for the average fan to understand just how much of a set back we had with the last HC, but it was pretty much epic.

Time and better recruiting to go along with the coaching will be the cure and you are most correct that this won't be an overnight fix! I think a lot of our roster who can't play at the level required for SEC football are probably pretty good kids, but unfortunately those good kids will get your @ss beat, as we have seen.

Lots of good sense in the Marianna area.
We're paying multi-million$ for the "coach-think". It doesn't occur to them that offensive linemen need to have a jujitsu master inculcate them with jujitsu laws of physics on stalwart balance, quick-change foot position combating force shifts, using opponent's force to floor him, etc? Plus give them some special forces hand to hand combat instructions. UF should create a wrestling team. so our blockers can learn to break holds. UF knows plenty on biofeedback ... teach the FB relevant parts.

What about a film-room exercise of "closed-eyed visualizing" the feel of the blocking need - i.e. block for the RB's path but recognize when your opponent changes direction then the RB was forced to change his path = so utilize opponent's weight shift to pancake the guy. And when ya gots the guy pancaked, drool a little syrup on him: no rule against drool. Let him know you're filthy.

As a highest institution of learning, UF needs all-inclusive teaching. Use the Med-School to resort to hypnosis.
So much FB-success is about fooling & misusing those in front of you, ergo, enroll them in political seance classes.

I appreciate your input and opinions.

UF's last 3 classes 14th, 9th and 18th

UK's last three classes - 28th, 26th and 30th

I thought Mullen and staff were outcoached.

Good point but Mac seemed to have had a good eye for finding blue chipper busts.

Stoops is going into his 6th year. That long of a tenure creates a lot of intangibles as far as conditioning and teamwork that makes up for a lower rated recruiting class.

Seriously, with that argument, how does UK hoops ever lose a game?

@Marianna-FL_Gator - What the hell is going on with Lemons? Looks like it’s not about playing time? Something personal? Did Mullen get into his ass after the game or something?

Y'all our talent may not be UGA but that is not why we lost.

OL not picking up the open rusher. Don't think - react. Block the open man - it ain't rocket science.

Tackle. Just wrap up. You dont need to wipe the guy out just stop stop him.

We were in the UK backfield but couldn't contain.

Even FCS teams play with more intensity - it's not talent.

I am normally reserved and don't pile on coaches like some around here. But, I would really punch butters in the face if I saw him. Mullen has to change the culture quickly or we'll be stuck in limbo for years and years to come. My 7 year old daughter has more intensity when playing UNO then a lot of the players on the field. I hate what has happened to the once Mighty Gator football team. I just hope Mullen is the guy to do it, cuz I'd hate to have 5 coaches in 12 years. I ain't getting my hopes up.

We've recruited well at the skill positions and at corner....that's it! Go look at the grades of our OL,DE,DT,LB and safety over the last 4 cycles then holla back! Other than Ivey (who's a bust) on OL and Conliffe/Slaton (who was evaluated at OL when he received his 4* rating) that's the only blue chip players we have starting. You win in the trenches and we're severely lacking top tier talent at those positions!

Kid can't stay out of his own way! We're better off going forward because that's one less piece of cancer in the locker room. We have alot more that needs to go also and you will see that happen before spring.

I’m with you on punching Mac for having, and worse instilling, a lazy-a$$ attitude.

That why Chump won’t get the kick the nuts from me if I meet him. He tried, and so did his players.

Mac literally admitted he got confused on down and distance on multiple occassions.

Do that, that’s a nut kicking. 2 achers, as my old coach called it.

I'm gonna blame the coach that's making 6 mil a year rather than the kids that were evaluated by every recruiting service out there as better than the team that just kicked in their teeth. This same group of players managed to beat Kentucky last year. We lost very few starters from last year. This team got worse under Mullen.

That same team might’ve lost in similar fashion last year if not for 2 plays where they left our WR all alone.
