He probably got fired after people saw that Mushchimp contract.

He also claimed you couldn't put non-compete clauses in contracts.
Yeah, that was the other thing we went back and forth on. What a tool that guy is. I really miss him.

I fully believe he is or was a staffer who wrote that contract. No one else would defend that.

Who was the a$$hole poster who couldn't stop telling people he was a lawyer who I got into an argument with when I was suggesting that we can and should negotiate these types of contracts? He pompously declared that he knew all about negotiations and that this type of thing was impossible. Too bad he left.

  • Matt Luke, Ole Miss — $0
  • Joe Moorhead, Mississippi State — $0

:snicker:

Very good points. And on that note w/ Mullen's contract; he got a $1.55 million raise. I think that was excessive. It almost felt like Stricklin was hooking up a buddy.....and then they gave Grantham a huge raise from MSU, and the biggest contract - by far - ever for a UF assistant. IMO, if he really wanted to UF job we could have gotten him for $5 million, which was a $500K raise, and a lower buyout. So again, Stricklin should go talk to the guy who relieved him for some pointers on contracts.

You sure you didn’t say you would rather have morehead than mullin ?
He was on a very long list of preferred options.

He is going to struggle. He is stuck w a terrible QB who is a senior. Hard to bench him. The backup isnt much better but he can pass a little. The lines are strung but not much talent elsewhere. There is a reasonnthey went 5-7 and 7-5 last two years and had worse passing and scoring offenses than Butters N Nuss.

He is recruiting like no one ever has at Cowbell. that's hard to imagine he seems like a dork.

Good, maybe we can take over the state of Mississippi for recruits, because we damn sure have been locked out of the state of Florida.
No. Just no. We are not the University of East Mississippi.

They had better figure out recruiting and fast.

This is why coaches get a sweet and more often sour response from the fanbase. Sweet, when you get what you pay for and Nuclear Warhead sour when you pay a $1 million dollars per win a season. Fluck Chump and triple Jaws Fluck Butterteef.

All I know is that those idiots in Louisville are regretting having that $12-$14 million buyout for that egotistical prick of a HC they have and are stuck with. Getting 66 hung on you by anyone in your building is pathetic, especially when it is GT and their run only attack.

Not SEC....but Louisville: Petrino's buyout is $14 million. How did Louisville get into this situation? Petrino would have taken that job for half of what they paid him and a one dollar buyout! He was making around $800K at Western Kentucky. I'm guessing Jeremy Foley helped their AD write the contract....

Louisville booster says school doesn’t have the money to buy out Bobby Petrino right now

Louisville booster says school doesn’t have the money to buy out Bobby Petrino right now

Louisville is coming off a game in which they were outscored 66-31 and allowed the second-most rushing yards in school history. They are 2-4 at the halfway mark of the 2018 campaign. The normally high-flying offense can barely move the football.

All of which is to say, the fan base is very unhappy with BobbyPetrino. Just not enough, apparently, to open up the purse strings and send the embattled head coach packing.

“The university is not in a position to buy him out,” TomMeeker, a Louisville Athletic Association board member, told the CourierJournal.

At issue: Petrino’s buyout has been pegged at roughly $14 million if he were fired after or during this season, to say nothing of the cost of getting rid of the rest of the current coaching staff. That figure is not too far off the $15.4 million owed to Texas’ TomHerman or the $16 million amount owed to Oklahoma State’s MikeGundy for some context.

Perhaps of bigger concern for Louisville than the play on the field for the Cardinals is the fact that the slumping football team is causing sharp decreases in the amount being donated to the program. The Courier Journal reports that the school’s athletic administration fund is down more than two-thirds in the past year thanks to the hire of a new basketball coach and a settlement with former athletic director TomJurich. Donations are down considerably and there’s still construction debt and pending lawsuits to deal with as well.

In short, even if everybody wanted to hit the reset button, there’s probably not the money left to do so.

“We have half a season left, so I don’t intend to speculate on Bobby’s future, only support it as we take on Boston College this week,” current AD VinceTyra told the paper.

Of course, it doesn’t help the school that mega donor PapaJohn has gone through a very public divorce with the program after racist comments he made led to his ouster from the pizza company of the same name.

Tinerc already had a contract in Mullinz hand and the rumor was they had met his demands. Strychnine panicked. Who knows what it was actually worth.

I am glad that, at least for now, the cost of our coach's buyout is not something we need to lose sleep over!
