If you haven't seen the segment about the Gator game on this ESPN show, go on WatchESPN and watch it. They start with a segment on the game and Marcus Spears (former LSU player) is really singing our praises (while wearing orange and blue due to losing a bet with Chauncey).

In the segment he says that if it wasn't for Saban, you could make a legit argument that Mullen is the best coach in the SEC right now. Talked about how far ahead of schedule we already are and how impressive it is what he is doing with the horrible recruiting from MacElwain. Talked about how Franks "looked like he couldn't play" last year but that Mullen is getting the most out of him. They also talked about how we had lost the edge from The Swamp but Mullen was clearly bringing the home field back

Overall just a really good segment. It is the very first thing they talk about this morning so go find it. It should be on WatchESPN as I'm watching it on the Fire Stick right now.

I suggest everyone cool their jets...

1) lsu is not a top 5 team, msu is worse
2) this team has never been in BIG games and that typically bites teams in the butt at some point
3) Mullen & his gang do seem to be getting them to play at a higher level than they should, which could also spell trouble
4) I seem to remember a couple other coaches with good seasons that turned out to be fools gold.

the best advise I can give right now is...

CAUTIOUS OPTIMISM

No doubt we should take things cautiously for now. On the other hand Mullen's era so far just feels different than Butters and Chump. I was wrong about everything this season.

There is good reason to be excited and look forward to the future, and I am going to enjoy it until I have a reason not to.

thanks Debbie Downer!

Im was getting sick of all the good feelings about the team.

We all appreciate you bursting our bubble and reminding us that message boards are no place for happiness or unbridled optimism.

well, I want to be just as excited as the next guy (or gal: sq, casey, t-gator), but I'm tired of the team being left at the proverbial alter.

I hope that we are back. I think Mullen will make us respectable again, at some point, just not sure if we're get'n there this fast, or if I'm being too overly cautious with my enthusiasm. I just don't want it to be the same path we traveled down the last two times.

So far, I’m drinking the Mullen Kool-Aid.

However, I remember Mac thumping a highly ranked Ole Miss team and thinking the stink of Muschamp was over with.

This feels different though, but I am a scarred Gators Fan with serious trust issues.

I’m hesitant to buy-in because I’m tired of being let down.

What makes me feel just a tad better is our TEAM in all phases appears to be developing forward and instantly pride back on the special team to be game changers again... under the other 2 dolts... recruiting might have been better with Chump and initial rhetoric better with Shark humper... but the Teams became lost, self absorbed, more about the coaches than players etc. I saw we look, practice and try harder as a TEAM. That’s a better direction early on in the rebuild processes... just saying, Go Gators!

Difference was that a QB he didn’t want laid waste to that team. We beat Ole Miss in spite of MacElstain’s Coaching.

Mullen has taken a cast of undercoached players and gotten them to play up to their talent. We’re winning because of Mullen’s coaching.

You want to be as excited as the next but you won’t let it happen and come to post this as to try and not get your hopes in case of a let down? It’s sports winning and losing can be fleeting. Just enjoy the winning now...

Mullen is doing more with less. Cautiously optimistic but Spears is realistic to what is going on. I do think Mullen will take us there but we sure will have some bumps to go through.

I am excited, but I am also cautious. The entire team does seem to be improved, but we are still ranked but 92nd in total offense. I think we should get 400 yds/game. When we start doing that I will be more fully on board.

So to your logic Mullen is essentially Butters and we will all one day eventually die?

I agree with cautionary optimism. But there is no doubt this coaching staff is ahead of the curve comparatively. In the last many years, we would have NEVER come from behind to beat ANYBODY much less ranked teams. You can see the difference and you can feel the difference as well. The new real measuring stick will come against the leg humpers in JAX. I do agree that LSU was overranked and MSU too, but they did manage to beat Auburn.
