Does this improvement in Franks scare off any of the current QB commits we have or Emory? Franks still has 2 years left to play, before the season i'd figured at this point it would be Emory's team. Glad to see Franks playing better, he's taken a ton of criticism and he's used it as motivation to get better. He still has a looooong way to go, but he is improving.

I suspect Franks improving so much is going to impress recruits more than scare them. I would think watching QBs come to Florida and never develop would be far more concerning.

He's maturing each game, taking what is given to him, throwing it away rather than take a sack, executing what is called. Not flashy, but getting steadier and steadier.

As I said last week, we’ve been beaten into the throw away, “something better has to be out there” mindset, that we forget how young Franks is. And every game that he goes out and sees things progress, he’ll continue to improve his confidence and decision making. We’ve just lost sight of the idea that players improve. I referenced DW in ‘94 last week.

All you have to do is peruse a Usce message board. They’re in shock that Bentley has not improved an ounce in three years. That is their reality now, but it was once ours, and it has continued to shape our view of things even today.

We, on the other hand, are watching a player actually grow into something that could be very special(perfect fit or not), and still have 2 more years to watch it improve.

I told my friends, FF will end up being viewed as a really solid Gator when it’s all said and done.

In sincerely hope that happens. It would be one helluva feel-good story.

Grossman struck me as a gunslinger because he would fire it "in there" long. Franks throws that way. Last night, he toned that down for a totally different way to win = development. I'm thinking, we might can shift worrying about Franks ruining our win-chances. Whenever Franks melds the long with the "quick-short", our whole attack becomes formidable. We have "great" RBs and "great" WRs. The defense is gelling. The OL blocking still lags. If Franks gets "pocket-time" he'll match up with other admired QBs.

Franks can be really awful. However, he's just about as tough, gutsy, and gritty as they come. He's not afraid of anyone.

Thought a couple plays they broke Gumby, but damn he popped back up. Long ice bath coming. Definitely fought hard. Still some boneheaded moves, but big improvements

12-27 but threw at least 5 or 6 away which is another big improvement point. Kid is tough. Ran for 42 yards as well. Checked down often.

The kid seems to work hard and has the respect of his teammates. He is growing.

Franks is showing us that (a) that he didn't get any coaching under the prior regime, and (b) that he can be coached. After watching our first six games I've come to a conclusion - I'm not going to judge any of these players based on what they did before. They may as well all be true freshmen getting coached for the first time.

I thought interception in the endzone was the right read just a terrible throw. He was under alot of pressure and LSU has a top notch secondary.

It sure seems like Morrel Stephens (sp?) is always in his sights near the goal line. I think the guy was open but Franks tried to drop it in between coverage and then got hit while he was throwing, so it turned into an easy lob to the defense. Would have been interesting to see if he could get that ball there had he not released it while falling backwards.

On that note, there is no doubting his heart. He may be one of the most hot/cold QBs I've ever seen, but he's a competitor. I especially liked seeing him smiling and laughing a bit right in the middle of that huge 4th quarter drive after the defender nearly sacked him. He looked very composed out there.

BTW that pass he threw to Hammond down to the 3 yard line in the 2nd quarter was a thing of beauty.

He is miles ahead of anywhere I thought he could reach in his time at UF. The stat sheet may not show it but he made some absolutely incredible throws last night (some of which weren’t caught). He’s still young and is finally getting legitimate coaching. I really have no idea where his ceiling is, I just know it’s much higher than anyone thought.

I think you were there, right? Danielson made several comments about the WRs not getting open. I know Franks gets and even deserves blame but it's not all him.
