He (Mullen) has said the team is now buying in.

He has not complained.

He has acknowledged that new facilities are coming.

He has acknowledged his scouts are searching for “better talent”

He is doing this with Butter MacSharks talent.

All I got to say is,”Sunshine, Lollipops, and Rainbows… “

As we in GN all sit back in the aftermath and say "it was good for me" there's still bound to be hiccups along the way BUT I am convinced we have the right man for the job. Great fit for UF and its' culture. He's also been a helluva cheerleader in helping to turn an apathetic student body into starting to give a shyte!

Any coach that is ultra competitive will never be satisfied with their team and coaches performances. Perfection doesn’t exist in football.

Saban beats teams down then goes into the interview room and talks about his teams deficiencies.

I never want CDM to be satisfied with his team.

CDM is such level headed HC that he'll make things work.
IMO we've had no off-field turmoil because Dan has filled their lives with the joy of being good players.
Players admire him enough that they send no "death threats" his way.
Gator HC DM is totally driven by the urge for Gator wins. To that he's gotten our players to buy in.
Can't develop as an HC until you have developed players, positions. This Mullen-crew is on it.
Looks like UF has found a diamond in the MSU-rough ?

My wife flat out believes the UK fiasco was because the players didn't like each other.... Then Lemons departs and they've done a 180 into a pretty decent team.
I think if we played UK next week the streak would've been extended.

And if a frog had wings it wouldn't hit its ass when it jumps

Gotta have more of an educated, father, executive type Coach around the over-grown kids than the self absorbed juglar vein popping chalk board breaker or the peanut butter smearing, popcorn vending, BBQ poisoning, shark humping, drama queen... we're lucky our kids aren't in a psychiatric ward after all that. So, I'm thinking Dan fits our need pretty good at this moment in stabilizing expectations, self respect and effort quotas. Maybe we'll get blessed with the bonus of some Prime Time spotlight and media buzz again. We're in withdrawal man, I need my fix bad.

I've had the wait-and-see approach w/ Mullen, but I've liked most of what he's done since the start.

My "negatives": he brought too many MSU assistants w/ him - and - he needs to do a better job recruiting. (I think both of these are easily correctable).

I've said from the start, if he finds "his" QB I think we'll be a contender. We may have a "down" year here and there when the QB moves on and we're breaking in a new QB. Other than that, I think he's going to get us in the hunt for the SEC title every year....and a playoff birth every few years. I'm a realist and realize you can't win 'em all.

Good to see you here! I mentioned you in a post earlier about a party at your house where Franz was talking sh*t!!!
So Franz Beard always comes across in interviews like he knows things for sure yet many times his info is completely wrong. He was kind of insufferable during the coaching search bragging and calling out people who doubted him when he said Chip Kelley was going to be our coach. He proudly proclaimed on one program the night of Strickland's flight up north to talk to Kelley that the papers were already signed and Kelly was the coach and that all his doubters could pretty much kiss his ass.

Don't get me started on him. I told a story in one of the other threads about him. It was actually at a party at @Homer 's house (he used a different name on the original swampgas - before it went full sunshine pumping). Franz told this hot chick at the party, about 15 years younger than him, that he usually only dates woman much younger than her...but he'd make an exception. True story. He used to come speak at our Gator Club and we'd all look at each other and shake our heads. His M.O. is to throw as much sh*t at the side of the barn....and whatever sticks he says, "I called it!" (completely ignoring the other non-sense he had been preaching as fact).

I heard the same things from a few buddies that know/work w/ him (about Chip Kelly). The word was "Franz said it's a done deal, contract is signed...it'll be announced tomorrow morning." I never heard what his reply was afterwards. I'm sure he dismissed it as if he never said it was going to happen. I'm surprised he still has a following. They used to worship him on Gatorcountry. If you dared disagree w/ him his posse would pounce all over you. I loved calling out his BS.

I'm not expecting any miracles and I still believe we may lose a couple more games this season. However, I'm seeing small steady improvements along the way. After being beat down by the last 2 coaching staffs inability to capitalize on any kind of momentum that the players generated on the field from game to game, I can honestly say I feel a pattern of improvement within the program is happening at this time.

Looking through the end of the season I hope the team stays healthy. We've been pretty lucky so far but we're only halfway done. Other than that we need to be competitive in the UGA game....I don't think a good loss(if there is such a thing) would be a killer for this team....We MUST beat FSUX....no if's, and's, or but's...must win that game to swing in state recruiting. Besides being a terrible coach, Butters biggest mistake here(besides running Grier off) was that he didn't treat this game with the urgency that is crucial to gaining and maintaining control of this states recruiting. I dare anyone to tell me losing this game 7 out of the last 8 times isn't the reason they've out recruited us the entire decade.....

Must also beat USCe AND win the bowl game....must.

Yep, the right QB and a 5*/4* offensive line, and we'll be in business
You don't necessarily need Blue Chip guys on the offensive line but you can't take two star or very low 3 * kids like Butters with all of his FIU FAU specials.
Often a fifth year three star guy is going to make a sophomore five-star look silly plus those five stars tend to leave after the third year.

Plus it would be good to have available, when needed, some true big boyz on the D-line. .
We have a few big dudes, and we use them in the redzone or on heavy fourth and short, but not enough. Im not sure why we are playing DEs like Shuler at DT often, but we are. I think some of this is loyalty to upperclassmen, which is admirable. Im not sure how far Id go with the little defensive linemen on first and second down. They have sure looked pretty good on passing downs the last two weeks though. We will see how it shakes out.

You think he feels loyalty to upperclassmen just because they're upperclassmen, even though they weren't his recruits?
Yeah, I think so. What other explanation is there for Buchanan, Stiner, lil Taylor, Ancrum, Stephens, Lewis, etc?
