The dif. Bt the 2000 team and 01 was exactly 1 gsme--which was the Miami gsme. With Earnest Graham, i should point out. The following season, we didnt have to play them--they they were playing for, and won, the NC.

So to be honest, i think its a toss up bt 00 and 01. If DD doesnt twist EGs knee (or 9/11 doesnt happen), we prolly beat Tennessee...and face Miami again, for NC.

Maybe we win...but aftet the sugar bowl the yesr b4....didnt seem too promising.
(Miami dominated both sides of LOS...)[/quote]

So you don't think there is any difference in going through an off-season knowing who your quarterback is and their strengths and weaknesses. Having the schemes and playcalling from the beginning more suited along with knowledge of the opponent. You call the difference in a game anyone watching both teams knows the difference was much more than a game.

But ok, your point is well taken--thats why they play game.

...but its also still hypothetical la la land.

It's also hypothetical that Miami automatically wins. I agree they had the most NFL ready talent on a single team of any time in the last 20 years. But their coaching had also fallen off from 00 team.

1000s of things can happen to blow a NC run, and sometimes u need a break (eg-- neb losing n osu winning, to clear path fir us in 96...). So it vuts both ways.

But you are ok, about him getting more upset about fumbles than player safety. Noted.

Im taking the facts as they are, mot as they mighta been.

Only when they fit your argument.

I see urbs closed tge desl on 2 ncs.

Maybe spurs could have too, but in his best 12 years, he closrd om one.

In an era where earning a NC was easier due to the BCS.

...and foley closed on meyer....

So, FTSOA, you want to give zero crrdit to JF for 96, you cant take away 06 n 08, which is still 2x morr than spurs.

You're starting to make up your own arguments to fit your narrative....

...leaving JF as the best AD UF ever had, just in football.

...anf certsinly not the worst, or even horrible.

I'm going to assume you don't remember much before Foley and what was built before he got to the AD position. Because that is how it sounds.

TBL, yall cry foul for me stretching to give 9lfoley cred for 96 ...as you contort yourselves into pretzels, to drny him any credit for 06 or 08.

It's patently inconsistent and disingenuous.

Give the devil his due. Fault him for his actual shirtcomings, like macElchump, and failing to recognize the facilities arms race...

Move on.

Does Foley deserve some credit, no one is saying he doesn't. Making him all world at AD because he came in at the right time after the infrastructure was built, then allowed it to crumble because he didn't see the changing of the times. Come one now.

I notice you like to stick to one set of facts, and when they are challenged, either abandon or move the goalposts. I responded to your argument on Spurrier, when that went up in flames you moved the goalposts to include Meyer. You moved the goalposts, because you need to be right even if it means changing the argument. This argument style seems like the Byrdman, when the facts don't line up with the discussion change the discussion.

1. FTSOA = For the sake of argument.

Not conceding.

2. What is my 'narrative'?

Hint: it aint the straw man your so boldly slaying.

3. Well aware of UFs football history--i point to the NCs, bc ppl. Judge him on MacElchump's rec, and take fir grsnted Meyers NCs as if Zooks recruiting wasnt necessary for at the very lesdt, 06, and on top of everything else, want to pretend that Meyer hsppened in a void in JFs tenure...

4. UF is in s great place fiscally, bc of this *disaster* of a AD...

Later.

I don't think I've ever seen such a strenuous (but really lame) attempt to rehabilitate Foley's image. One has to be related or have worked for him to conjure up such contortions (e.g., Spurrier stayed because of Foley).

As a CEO (of athletics) he was hiring for the most important position in the most visible department in his domain. And he hires Zook, Muschamp, and McElwain. How? Why? :headslap:That's 3 lapses of judgment and a definite stain on his legacy. The hiring of BD does not wash it away.

PS: To be most generous, Urban Meyer's hire was a Machen-Foley joint venture...and a no-brainer.

No just a person who changing the person who they are discussing to fit their argument. So yes your narrative.

Again, moving the goalpost from the initial discussion.

4. UF is in s great place fiscally, bc of this *disaster* of a AD...

So your assumption without Foley, Football would not have made millions of dollars in Net profit? Even without the profit that Basketball currently makes we are still in the black (per the UAA financial reporting) without it. Also prove where I said he was a disaster... weight of those goal posts have to be getting heavy on you.

All you GOAT people got to choke down that reality when your GOAT was laughed at by the conferences. No one wanted that asshat, not even Sunbelt or CUSA.

1. Bucs did offer SOS job, he was negotiating with them...and JF talked to SOS, and offered more $$$ than any CFB ciach at time. You can dispute JFs role in persuading SOS to stay, but those facts alone show thst JF was at lesst competent in dischsrging his duties, and did not fsll asleep at the wheel.

2. Darnell Docket teisting Earnest Grahams knee at bottom of pile, and JF not having SOS s bsck, was no doubt a sore spot, but nothing JF could havr done would hsve fixed EGs knee. This wss in 99-00, not b4 NC.

3. SOS left bc he saw the writing on the wsll, aftet Miami took one of Spurriers best ever teams, to. The. #$%&n. Woodshed, in New Orleans. It wss brutal. The gsme hsd chsnged, and spur's locker room wss not geared for yhe new terrain. Dsn Snyders 5 million other ressons provided a besutifully timed 'out '

4. I never suggested JF n SOS were buds, just a good working rship.

5. SOS left JF in a tight spot by bailing when he did, with so little warning. You want to csll it revenge for Dockett-Grahsm gste? Fine, but he gave every reason conceivable not to get special consideration when the position opened up again, by slamming the door shut on his way out. Cest la vie. (Note: i love Spurrier as much as any Gator, but not more than UF, and it wss as clesr to me as to most fans, thst Meyer > Spurrier, in '04-05).

So i maintain JF was indispensible to all 3 Ncs--instrumental in keeping SOS here long enough to win first NC, not bringing him back at expense of Meyer, and going after and closing on Meyer, which was good fir the 2nd n 3rd Crystal trophies.

(....and i reiterate, neither Meyer nor Spurrier wins 2nd NC without the bang up job zook did in recruiting--the guy JF had to hire on the fly bc Spurrier left is high n dry).

Your account of the "talks" between SOS and Foley do not square with Spurrier's comments that were made to the press, and are still available on line. He was not offered the job. Period. For a new guy on this board, your history of distorting history is impressive - in a very negative way. Incidentally, I'm having more trouble trying to figure out what you're trying to say, due to the many misspellings and tortured syntax, than your "thoughts" are actually worth.

Believe what you like. Foley wrecked the FB program with his slum lord mentality, micro-managing and a catastrophic series of bad hires. You can spin it however you wish. You can deny facts and "interpret" those you choose to believe to any desired effect. You can't however alter the fact that during his tenure, Foley committed multiple blunders that resulted in the near collapse of the program. Bye.

Me. As I said, UF should win 10 games with its talent against this schedule. Part of the reason I pointed that out is so that people might NOT get too excited with a fast start.

Still this is a day to be happy. UF won an upper tier SEC game and scored in the high 20s.

Before I put you on ignore forever, allow me to point out that you are one pissy little know-it-all who will be wasting no more of my time with your self important, self congratulatory, passive aggressive horse shyt. FY and bye-bye AH.

I can’t believe I’m brought to arguing in favor of Mr. 4800 yards, but this response to Insti is BS. With his own annoying style, Insti did call it. Some here thought he was crazy (or that the premise of 10 wins or we hired a bum was a setup). But, after all the crap he took in those preseason threads, did you really expect him to not come into this exact thread, asking this question, and gloat?

And so he did, rightfully.

...and your free to champion your own bull**** narrative as youve proven so detetmined. (And btw, the football program was never in any threat of collapse, at least not since getting the NCAA off our ass).

Oh, and since you appear to have missed it...SOS, Billy D, and Urbs...among many many others...do not appear to share your ignorantly entrenched opinion:

(Side note--I may be new here, but you and i bucked heads over this very issue in Gator Country last year (unless theres another vehement Foley hater posting under same handle over there)-in a thread I started, the title of which rather succintly describes my 'narrative', to wit: 'A little perspective on Jeremy Foley'. Yall haters/bashers can't seem to keep any kind of perspective. Fwiw).

Foley's a f ing idiot. A chimp good do his job and have the same success at UF. Well maybe better success. I think a chimp would have enough brains to upgrade facilities. And not f up every football coaching hire he initiated.
