Did Mullen Call Out the Fans?

I have no idea what Cousin Eddie said or meant. But if has any negative feeling towards any paying fan, he has a right to leave this job. Otherwise he should watch the film, look himself in the mirror and say these are my coaches that I brought in, these are the players. I can either SHYT or get off the pot. Leave the fans alone, b/c no one wants to sit and watch that crummy product that was on the field yesterday.

Here's how it works Dan. The fans around here have put up with sh*tty, boring football for the last 9 years. Fix the f'ing offense and have the team prepared to play every week, that's your job, not ticket sales, you do your job, ticket sales will take care of itself. Don't blame the fans not showing up for the team's lackluster performances. Now, that being said I'm happy with some of the improvement made this season, special teams are light years ahead of where they've been, strength and conditioning also is improved. The defense has played well up until the last couple of weeks when the injuries have started to pile up. The offense is still a clusterf**k but that's mainly due to the QB position which has been nonexistent, there was some improvement early in the year but then when teams figured out that Franks is still Franks the offense is back to what we've seen around here since 2010.

He’s not talking about fans that are there. He’s talking about the open seat next to you. The attendance has been pathetic, it is what it is. I don’t think Mullen understands what Muschamp and Butters did to this program and how they alienated the fan base. He was here at an all time high, and he’s back seeing a fragmented fan base and doesn’t understand where it went. Which doesn’t bother me.

I went to just about every single home game from 1989-2010, just about every UF-UGA game, national title games, SEC title games, and even this years LSU game didn’t hold a candle to pre 2010 Swamp. Not even COMPARABLE. And they called that loud and packed? Bullshyt. The fans are different and it’s going to take some time to repair and create new fans. I get it. But don’t let his comments feel like they’re directed at you or me, it’s the ones who buy tickets and don’t come (which I also understand). The difference is he doesn’t get it.

I'm calling out Mullen for not having his team emotionally ready for an important East rival. We looked disinterested, hungover, still thinking about Georgia.

Sorry Dan! 32 year Season Ticket Holder here. I didn't come yesterday. I am sorry I let you down. For that part, I'm sorry!...I'll be awaiting your post to me apologizing for the Poop you been putting on the field over the past few weeks. Your play over that span is what led me not to come, fearing more or the same...Guess what! I was wrong...It was worse!

I just think this fan base has been let down so often that it will take a lot to see that stadium packed more than the LSU game. Even the LSU game wasn’t as packed as when Tebow was playing. Winning and playing consistently will help.
There also wasn't so many options back then as there are now. I can watch us suck in Crystal clear HD at my house with spending hundreds and an entire weekend going to a game. Winning does help though.

I agree with everything you said, but I believe the LSU game was loud enough to effect the outcome of the game and is about as loud as today's fans will ever be.
What's funny to me is I called out Mullen for appealing to the fans about attending this game 15 minutes after the Ga. loss and got a dozen face palms. He wasn't upset at what had happened one bit and was already into his coach speak.
I didn't post in the Mullens cap thread but will say it here, he has just loss to many games and it just doesn't bother him anymore. We like to laugh at Frost but I promise you those losses has kept him up at night.

That's right. The only thing Cousin Eddie did right was pulling Franks for Trask, but I'm doubtful that he will have the wherewithall to make it permanent. He seems to think that he can raise the dead in Frank's case. As bad as the defense has been, that clown cost us at LEAST the Georgia game.
Franks mistakes didn't lose us the UGA game. We weren't beating them with this defense. They could've named their score.

I believe that Mullen hates losing and I believe he fully understands the expectations here. I am hoping he can recruit the players he needs to win. If he cant get it figured out pretty quick he will need to move on but damn it man, we have been waiting for 10 years for football to be fun again and we are all sick of losing.

No amount of fans will help 13 go through his progressions and make accurate throws.
I was there. When he had time, no one was open because they had 8 in coverage. When they rushed more than 4 he didn’t have time to do anything. Franks ain’t good, but our OL is much worse.

I can wait it out, if I see improvement, but most fans aren't going to be that patient.
If you were at the game the cheering for Trask was encouraging, a lot of people think we are a entitled fan base, but we really just want to be entertained, spend time with our families and rekindle old friendships. What we witnessed yesterday puts a damper on all that.

If he beats Georgia the swamp much fuller and louder this week. He has no one to blame but himself and his team. Win and we'll come back, it's not the other way around.

The most important barometer of success, most of us agreed early on, was seeing week to week improvement.

After a 6-1 fast start, we've stalled over the last two games. The turnover efficiency that fueled us earlier has gone away as well as the intensity on defense. The offense has tripped all over itself. We came out flat yesterday, which is alarming. We seem almost spent from keeping the whole thing aloft.

South Carolina shapes up as a big game. Win and the momentum and sense of improving are back. Lose and we'll be back to square one. That likely won't be lost on potential recruits either.

Mullen has to find a way to plug the leaks fast or else.

For me it’s controlling what you can control. DM can affect the attendance, but he can’t control it. He should focus on what he can control. Tell the team and recruits how magical that stadium is when it’s full of Gators fans and that to get them in those seats the team has to show that they want the fans there through their actions on and off the field.

I personally believe that if Nick Saban was hired today and he was able to bring his Alabama team roster with him, BHG would be packed. If I’m right, then people saying that HD television has made an impact are incorrect.

I live in Atlanta and was a season ticket holder up to a few years ago. I still drive that long drive to attend 2-3 games a year. I didn’t release my tix necessarily because of the product on the field, it was for financial reasons - I was not employed at the time season tickets renewal was requested. The product on the field plays a large part to butts in seats. But, this fan base is fractured and to bring them back, the team will have to prove that they are not the team of old. Even with 70K actual fans in attendance, they could have made a huge statement against a team that hadn’t won an SEC game. Instead, the team looked every bit of the team we saw last year and the years before.

DM needs to focus on what he can control. Fix the mental psyche of this team and “coach them up” to win games. Consistency on the field will start to bring the fans back. Winning when you’re supposed to win will bring them back. Winning when you’re not supposed to win will definitely bring them back.

While true that our OL is booty, he still missed multiple open WRs, a few that shoulda been big plays or TDs. Franks ain’t it.

No he’s not, but we don’t have a “good” QB on the roster. I think he’d be serviceable behind a decent OL, but who knows for sure?

I don't want to hear excuses for the lack of fans showing up. Get your azz in the stadium and pull for this team, that's how it starts. Recruits see it, players on the field respond better and opponents feel the heat, that's why they need to show up. I live in Va but if I were within 4-5 hours of that stadium I would NEVER miss a home game unless my son was playing baseball..
