What is the reason for Mullen's perceived cap?

I dont think anyone has said its all the players fault. I know you agree however that there are some very serious deficiencies w this roster.

Maybe, but I've seen the Mullinz show enough to know damn well he can't use receivers anyway except for screens and sweeps.

I know, I know, and those two passes downfield per half.

This year was always a throwaway. The cost of keeping a guy who couldn't or was just too lazy to recruit.

Funny, but I seem to remember quite a bit of downfield throws during the Leak/Tebow era when he was here last.......

You're wrong. Go find the games on youtube and count them. We threw two a game. One per half. Almost like clockwork.

Except for OSU and Cincy.

Here, count it.
6:11 Leak to Caldwell

6:51 12 yard pass, fade... not a short pass. generally 7,8, 9 17 yards deep or deepr is a deep pass but we will count this for argument's sake.

18:03 Leak to Baker

Long int with clock winding down.

BTW Reche and Percy had more end arounds than catches.

You people have fvkking amnesia about what Mullinz ball is, or you are too young to remember.

For the technologically challenged, you can do a right arrow key to skip ahead.

Insulting, really. The coaching staff owes us all an apology for how that year ended.

Come on, I know you are smarter than that. Recruits want to see results.. commits have been based on past performance. By the end of the season they will be looking at at least a 9 win team... Right now they are basing it off a sub 500 team. Do you really think that doesn't matter?
So sick of hearing this excuse! Recruits don't care as much about results as people make it seem. Like or not Smart is a perfect example. He had never been a HC before takes over at UGA goes loses to Ole Miss, TN, UF, Vandy, and Tech and come back and has the #1 recruiting class in the country . This was a year after they went 10-3, so Smart came in and had a worse record than the previous year yet somehow signs the #1 ranked class and has 8 5* commits. The players bought into what he was selling. Mullen cant seem to sell the players like the elite recruits. I get we are handcuffed do to facilities but were getting the elite players on campus like we used to but they are leaving and not committing. There has to be a reason for that and it's not just the players wanting to see the progress. If that was the case they would wait to take official visits, it's the staff.

Mullen seems to be the coach who needs to surround himself with elite recruiters to be successful. He didnt do that when he came to UF. I will agree he has made some good changes but we need 1-2 more elite recruiters on staff to help close deals. I really like Grey he is very good in the recruiting area.

Plus what more do you need to see we went from averaging like 24 points a game to over 40 and we had a top 50 offense where the previous 6 years were at or past the 100 mark.

I do agree we have some deficiencies. Rewatching that game and Taylor had one helluva game if your a Miami fan. How can you be a second year starter and still be clueless is beyond me. If Stewart can get his head on straight then hopefully he can replace Taylor ASAP. I didn’t notice much from Stiner, but I could be wrong there. Stewart and Dean should be our safeties, can’t do much worse. The tackling was atrocious. Lots of diving at legs, just overall bad. The play calling was not good. I just feel we are limited by the QB and a young oline. The run game was non existent due to the oline’s Inability to open up a hole.
Positive were both Greenard and Zuniga. Those guys made some plays all night. The oline allowed 1 sack but that stat is misleading. Franks was under duress all evening. There was always a few white jerseys breaking through. It was obvious to me Franks did not trust his line and this is evident by how quickly he would leave the pocket. Overall, lots to clean up, indeed. I look at it like this the Chimp would have lost this game by less than 7 and Butters it would’ve been 40 something to 7 waxing of the Gators by Miami. I rather be picking the team apart in a tough win then a loss.

And here is the divide. Having the worst AP all-time record ranked vs ranked teams is pretty telling.

Sorry. Until it's not true...it is true.
I don't disagree, facts are indeed facts. However, the record you cite was compiled against the best division in CFB, at an institution that is near the bottom of the SEC in virtually every measurable regard. In his time at UF he HAS BEATEN some quality opponents and it is not realistic IMO to just automatically assume the worst based on a set of circumstances that no longer pertain. Of course one man's fact is another man's excuse and people believe what they choose to believe.

That post is very old. I'm pretty much a pumper these days. The old me would tell you that if he recruits like he has been then expect a similar record going forward. The new me thinks it is too early to make any determination. We'll have to see and hope for the best.

You're downvoting posts that are a year old and without a lot of context. I'm not a Mullen basher so you can chill the F out.

My bad, I didn't look at the date of the post. I've had you on ignore for a while and wasn't aware that there had been a "sea change" in your outlook. Your attitude toward DM may have indeed changed, your refusal to act like a reasonably civil adult has not. Goodbye again.
