Franks is still "in the mix" for our mainstay QB. Hasn't FF been outperforming our other QB candidates ? Then it follows that FF can still outshine Trask, and EJ. It remains to be seen whether being benched and thrown into do or die competition gives rise to a Franks that concentrates better, improves his accuracy ?

I still like the speed of FF's throws, which are wasted carrying no accuracy. Franks needs further QB development. Our QB with the surest performance skills is Kadarius Toney. It's possible K.Toney might just might be similar to Deshaun Watson or Lamar Jackson, both shifty runners. Of course, for Toney's sake slot or WR offers his best chance at the NFL.

We've had a lot of strong-armed quarterbacks at UF. None of them, save for John Reaves, has amounted to much.

Spurrier, Wuerffel, Tebow. So-so in the arm department, strategic missiles in the head and heart.

Grossman was pretty solid.

Spurrier would have benched Franks a long time ago, esp after the various inabilities to control his emotions on the field, something Spurrier had absolutely no stomach for.

Trask, ability notwithstanding, is much more a Spurrier type than Franks.

Spurrier wouldn't have gone into fall camp with only these two quarterbacks at Florida

Spurrier would tell Felipe the same as he once told Danny. "It is not your fault , it is my fault for putting you in the game" . We were told that Franks has worked hard to learn this offense and to be a leader. It is apparent that he has reached his ceiling in both areas. It is not working.

He seems like a good kid and we wanted him to be successful. Now he should like Driskel, look for a smaller school in "La La Tech Land" and find a place where he can be productive.

I think given time and the type of offense he ran, Spurrier could have done something with Trask.

First all our QB’s would be better playing for the true QB whisperer.

2nd, Spurrier would have had a much quicker hook as suggested.

3rd, I see a comparison to some degree to Dean/Danny. Not that Trask is anywhere close to Danny but stylistically.

4th, our receivers would be more effective in a Spurrier offense.

The only problem Franks has with “emotions” is getting down on himself when not playing well. His two incidents earlier this year was bogus. One was a TD celebration on his own sideline with our fans and the other was having words with a dlineman after a hit. It was totally bogus. Neither penalty should have been called and Spurrier would have had his back on both.

He effectively used Brindise..... I completely agree.

If Franks/Trask/Jones had a true developer of Quarterback talent like Spurrier they have looked this bad?

he beat FSU by rotating Noah Brindise and broke records with unheard of Grossman. He could win the east with Trask

The challenge for Trask or Jones is going to be getting the reps in practice and more importantly in the games. I am certain that Mullen really wanted to avoid changing QB's this late in the season. But if the starter gets injured you are in a similar situation. With the 2 home games coming up this is as good as any time to make a change. I don't see any "catching lightening in a bottle" moments with Trask or Jones, but you never know. The change has to be made this week.
