I believe there are some coaches and former coaches on here. I'm a former and the question of how a QB performs in practice vs. live action is an important one.
For QB's, practice is essentially a non-contact activity. I've seen very capable QB's who couldn't play under the lights. The variable of knowing that a violent collision with another human being while in a defenseless state is possible is daunting. A QB has to put it entirely out of his mind to be effective. Maybe FF is a world beater in practice. He certainly has the physical gifts. Maybe he fears contact. He wouldn't be the first QB to be thus ruined. Kickers are subject to the same affliction.
Behind the line he has played the last 2 years (really longer) every quarterback that has played behind it is probably gunshy.
