What do you think is going on with Franks in practice?

"You play like you practice" how many times have we heard that, even when I played ball from my own coaches and I always felt that there were exceptions to that with some kids. If Franks is grading high at practice then it at least supports my position cause he is horrible in the game. So no, you don't always play like you practice. SOS kept pressure on his QB's not by allowing them to get hit in practice but with the threat of finding a clipboard if they couldn't get the job done. I think that's worse for most.

The world is littered with strong armed quarterbacks who can't throw it in the ocean. For those of us who are ancient I offer a baseball analogy. Remember Ryne Duran of the Yankees? Win/Loss career 27-44. Just as likely to hit the batter as the strike zone.
Yeah, I remember Ryne. Announcers used to drool over his fastball. Batters used to hate facing him for fear
of getting beaned. Seems like he use to wear glasses that resembled the bottoms of old Coca-Cola bottles.

Probably a couple inches ... I won't say which way though.

Even then you are doing better than me.

So, maybe Franks thinks because his... arm is bigger, he does not have to preform.

I'll take an accurate Drew Brees over a big arm any day

I believe there are some coaches and former coaches on here. I'm a former and the question of how a QB performs in practice vs. live action is an important one.

For QB's, practice is essentially a non-contact activity. I've seen very capable QB's who couldn't play under the lights. The variable of knowing that a violent collision with another human being while in a defenseless state is possible is daunting. A QB has to put it entirely out of his mind to be effective. Maybe FF is a world beater in practice. He certainly has the physical gifts. Maybe he fears contact. He wouldn't be the first QB to be thus ruined. Kickers are subject to the same affliction.

To adapt to that make some practices live one, surely coaches know as much as I do. Same with kickers, I seem to remember a coach who had them rushed in practice.

We've seen "fear of impact" as it was on display with Chris Leak. We've seen Franks bash his way to a first down, pile drive his way into the end zone. Fear of impact isn't there.

What Franks is derailed by has got to be something intrinsic and buried. Possibly, it's that he lacks the instinctive biofeedback of muscle memory. With Jefferson 40 yards downfield FF throws it 46 yards. Lacking that instinctive muscle memory feedback, he has no ability at "honing" in. Thus, similar play with Swain gliding open 40 yards downfield FF overthrows Swain by 8 yards. His brain-muscle link ain't there. Lacking that "muscle-feeling" that informs & tunes the arm throwing, every pass is an unlearned surprise. This disorder would make even practice an unlearning regimen. Not to mention that the first to be frustrated would be Franks and, to me, this shreds smooth confidence and inserts anger-doubts into his delivery.

Just by Wuerffel's uncanny accuracy at throwing the "fade" multiple distances, you know, he learned varying muscle control. Wonder if Mullen has repeatedly had FF practice the fade? Maybe that could develop his overall accuracy, his touch? But is that fantasy island: "the fade, boss, the fade.

I think FF puts the time in.

I have no doubt he's good in practice.

I don't think he's a gamer.

They say Tebow was the opposite...pressure brought out his best.

I doubt he is that good in practice. It was always leaking out about his crappy play there when not coming from the standard media that covers the Gators.

Ive never heard anyone say that our offense ever has looked good in practice.

They just assumed that meant we had an elite defense though. :lmao2: yeah... not so much.

I think every QB except Fitzgarbage had a career day against us.

Is he missing wide open guys and playing anxious even when he has time like in games? If so, why haven’t we figured out how to fix it?

Or is he performing well but simply unable to make it translate to games?

Just baffling how up and down he is.

He's got pics of the coaches in bad situations. Also Mac destroyed his confidence

Big Mullen mess-up not keeping Matt Corral. IMO, a real field general is not the player who runs the football. The only right time for the QB to run the ball is when "daylight" opens up. Your QB drives the team via passing accuracy.
As freshman backup QB Corral's stats =

7 rushes for 83 yards = 11.3 ypc .... he only has 4 yards lost.... 11 of 14 passing for 78.57% completion, all for 174 yards, 16 yards per completion (that's good downfield stuff).

Remember how fired up he was to be a Gator? How he showed leadership when he was recruiting other 4*s for UF. There is greater likelihood that Corral will be a top CFB QB than likely Franks will stay 1st string here. ???
