I just checked with jboss. He says FSU only won because they hit their shots. He says if we just hit our shots, we’ll win.

Going to be a long season. No real leadership on this team.

Anyone know why Chase Johnson never saw the court?

From what I read, he didn't play a ton in the scrimmage. He's lost behind Stokes, Stone, and Basset? So, there aren't any minutes available. He didn't look like he'd gained much weight either which means he'd be useless on defense. I'm just guessing.

Ballard must be terrible in practice.

His hustle and ability needs to start IMO.

Unlike Allen, there won't be a problem with Ballard being passive on offense. He seemed to hustle on D as well. His shot selection was solid. He wasn't out of control which was a problem last season. He's longer. Enough is enough with Allen.

Do we have our own Leonard Hamilton? White recruits talent but does shyt with them.
Actually other than Nembhard he has barely cracked the top 100 with a recruit. We just need to get better, make the tourney and then next season will be the defining year imo. If Nembhard stays we will have one of the best on paper talent we probably ever have had. If the same issues exist nest season...then yeah maybe

He never speaks like this...so maybe, maybe not lol

I am sure he doesn't because he wouldn't sound like the athletic director that he is at heart.

I know that most on this board think White hung the moon but I believe that the jury is still out on him.
You must admit that we saw an embarrassing performance last night by a team that seems to have the same issues they have had for two years.
- Inconsistent shooting
- A physical aversion to defense
- No inside game at all
- Overwhelming urge to play hero ball versus working for a good shot

8 point leads quickly become 18 point leads when the team panics and takes themselves out of games.

Well:

1. I agree that the jury is still out on White.

2. The performance last night was no more embarrassing and in fact less embarassing than last year at home against these guys.

3. I was pleasantly suprised by the inside rebounding with Stone getting 8 and Hayes 6 in limited play for Hayes.

4. The guard play was terribly disappointing to me. The perimeter defense was pathetic. Inconsistent shooters are going to be inconsistent, but you still have to stay with someone on defense and take care of the ball.

Anyone know why Chase Johnson never saw the court?

And what about Gak. Why exactly did we give him a scholarship? Where is the churning weaving continuous movement to receive the pass to make a shot? Do we have guys who want to take the shot enough to doggedly work for it? A now and then "back door" would be nice.

With togetherness experience maybe get Stokes 'neath the basket to get the "put-back" on a teammates driving shot. It ain't pick up ball no more. We made FSU look like the #1 team in the nation. I hate that. Is Mike White a mousey coach?

This performance snatches from us the sensibility of talking about who shows promise, which Gator is the one to watch, etc. I got nothing. And even as we beat other teams, we'll still be dragging this FSU anchor with us. The SEC has some highly regarded teams this year that we're gonna have to reguard.

That was an abortion

.... a Ceasarian abortion.

In this month we play: Oklahoma, Stanford or Wisconsin. then prolly Butler = so we could be 2-5 coming out of the first month of basketball. And we do not measure well within the SEC. gonna be a long season with lousy hope for the NIT?

Guess the only sparkle for us watchers will be the individual development of new guys like Nembhard and Stokes.

Last night was a complete embarrassment.

FSU is a very good team, but there is absolutely no excuse to lose like that.

The team has absolutely no offensive identity and doesn't run any organized or set plays.

Allen is a complete joke... how do you play that bad in your first game of your senior year. He has no competitive edge.

I feel like the team quit in the second half. The young guys seem to be just out there running and have no idea what they are doing. Is Mike White even trying to coach this team? That was one of the worst performances I have ever seen from a Gator basketball team.

I gave you a like, dammit. I hope Allen gets his **** together, for his sake and the teams.

This is gonna be a long year. I said it last year that this would be a rebuilding year. We're going to see the effects of whites poor first 2 recruiting classes. We've got a very good freshman class this year and we've the #6 class coming in next year. I think white definitely gets till the end of next year.

Chase hurt his neck in practice this week and Gak still isn't cleared from offseasons surgery I believe

Maybe. But LenHam always has several giants at center who can actually score in the paint. I liked what I saw from Stokes, but he looks short in comparison. Still, he's obviously a lot more natural scorer than Hayes and should get a lot of minutes. What's our next game? I'm too lazy to look it up.

Don't get carried away. This team has a lot of talent, but very little cohesiveness. With a lot of young guys it is going to take some time to develop, and figure out who should get the majority of the minutes.

FSU was a bad matchup on on the road and we had probably our worst shooting performance of the year (I sure hope anyway). All is not lost.
